On Thursday, the iconic actress hosted an AMA session on Reddit, addressing various questions from users. One fan inquired about a contemporary role she would have liked to take on. In response, Aman mentioned her admiration for Priyanka Chopra’s portrayal of Kashibai in ‘Bajirao Mastaani,’ expressing her desire to have played that character.

During this engaging session, the legendary actress reflected on recent roles she felt she could have excelled in. The 73-year-old remarked, “While I’m unsure if I would have fully captured the role, I would have cherished the opportunity to play Priyanka Chopra’s character in Bajirao Mastani. It was a multifaceted role that truly intrigued me.”

In the film, Priyanka’s character navigates a complex emotional landscape, grappling with her strength amidst turmoil as she deals with feelings of jealousy and betrayal following the blossoming romance between Ranveer Singh’s Peshwa Bajirao and Deepika Padukone’s Mastaani. To this day, Priyanka’s performance as Kashibai is celebrated as one of her finest.

The ‘Qurbani’ actress also took a moment to reflect on her own career, expressing regret over her choice to star in S. Ali Raza’s ‘Jaanwar’ alongside Rajesh Khanna. “Honestly, I regret doing Jaanwar. The film took eight years to complete, and by the end, we were utterly drained! It was incredibly tedious to shoot in bits and pieces over so many years.”

Aman did not shy away from discussing opportunities she wishes she had taken, revealing her regret over turning down a role in the classic ‘Amar Akbar Anthony.’ “I have to admit, I regret passing on the role I was offered in Amar Akbar Anthony. My negotiations with the director/producer, for whom I had just delivered a hit, fell apart. I don’t regret standing my ground, but I do regret missing out on that role. It sounded like such a fun project.”

Looking back, Zeenat Aman also shared her thoughts on the evolution of the film industry. “I know many criticize the Hindi film industry, and much of it is justified. However, a significant and positive change I see is the presence of women at every level, making their contributions and claiming their space with competence. During my time, it was common to be the only woman on set. This shift is quite striking to me.”

On the professional front, Aman is preparing for the upcoming releases of ‘Bun Tikki’ and ‘The Royals.’
