Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently expressed her heartfelt emotions after boarding an Air India flight, mere days after the tragic plane crash near Ahmedabad that resulted in over 200 casualties. The nation is in mourning for the London-bound flight that met with such a devastating fate.

Zeenat shared a moving message on her Instagram, accompanied by a photo of herself on board the flight. She reflected on the heavy emotions of being in the air so soon after such a heart-wrenching event.

“Today, as I boarded an Air India flight, I was overwhelmed by emotion while fastening my seatbelt. I hope our shared grief brings some comfort to those who have lost their loved ones,” she wrote.

The tragedy has sparked a wave of sorrow across the country, with celebrities, political figures, and citizens alike offering their condolences and support to the bereaved families. Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan expressed his pain on his blog, stating, “My heart aches for the victims of the Air India crash. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site in Ahmedabad, describing the scene as deeply saddening. He commended the heroic efforts of the rescue and emergency teams involved, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “The devastation I witnessed today at the crash site in Ahmedabad is truly heartbreaking.”

The ill-fated flight carried 169 Indian citizens, along with 53 British, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian passenger. In a stroke of tragedy, only one person survived: Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian descent, who is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

Airline officials reported that the aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, an experienced captain with over 8,000 hours of flight time, and First Officer Clive Kundar. Reports indicate that the pilots issued a Mayday call before the plane lost contact with air traffic control.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, Air India’s parent company, Tata Group, has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of each deceased passenger.
