Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett may not have many photos from her wedding to Andrew Upton, but she cherishes the memories she’s made. During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to promote her upcoming thriller “Black Bag,” the 55-year-old star shared the story behind the singular photo that exists from her 1997 wedding, according to ‘People’ magazine.

“When I got married, which was quite a long time ago—27 years ago,” Blanchett began, momentarily distracted by a more recent photo of herself and Upton, 59, displayed on-screen. She playfully remarked, “Why am I doing it like that?” as she viewed the image of the couple laughing together.

As reported by ‘People’, the recent photo, taken in March 2024, shows Blanchett sitting and leaning into Upton with a smile. Refocusing on the topic, the actress labeled it “a miracle” to still be married “to the same person” for so long.

She reflected, “I’ve been married for 27 years. When we tied the knot, we had absolutely no money. We couldn’t afford a photographer, and we had two friends step in.”

“One friend got so drunk that he forgot to load the film, and the other had such a good time that he didn’t take any pictures. As a result, we ended up with just one photo from our wedding,” Blanchett shared with Barrymore, 50. She went on to describe that lone wedding photo as “a blurry picture of the two of us getting into the car,” but emphasized that the memory of the night is vivid in her mind.

She admitted that she wasn’t always at peace with the lack of wedding photos. “I was so sad and upset at the time because we didn’t capture any moments, but ultimately, I’m quite happy we don’t have many photos because it encourages me to keep recalling the evening,” she concluded.
