We Aim to Sustain This Winning Momentum: Ruben Amorim
Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, emphasized that his team’s ability to stay composed after conceding goals in their last two matches demonstrates their growth as they prepare for a crucial Premier League matchup against Leicester City this Sunday. United managed to secure a 1-1 draw against second-placed Arsenal last week, showcasing resilience in earning a vital point. They then displayed a powerful comeback on Thursday, rallying from behind to win 4-1 against Real Sociedad, which granted them a place in the Europa League quarterfinals.
“In our recent matches, we’re starting to grasp the vision of what we want to achieve. Our understanding of the game plan has improved,” Amorim shared with the media.

“We’re allowing the team more time to secure wins and draws. We’re not losing our composure after conceding a goal, as we’re starting to understand the game’s rhythm and how we wish to play.”
—
“I recognize that football can be unpredictable; we can experience a great moment and then quickly fall off. Our focus is on maintaining balance, avoiding excessive highs or lows. My goal is to keep pushing forward—we need to endure.”
Currently sitting in 14th place with 34 points from 28 matches, United will look to improve their standing with a win against 19th-placed Leicester, who are currently on a tough streak with five consecutive league losses.
“Every game is crucial, and we must retain the mindset that we can win. It doesn’t matter how much rest we have or how much time we have to prepare for the next match,” said Amorim.
“We proved against Arsenal that we need to stay humble and not get distracted by the league table. We must approach the Leicester match with the same mentality we had against Real Sociedad.”
“Our priority is to win and improve our table position, but what’s most vital is maintaining this winning mentality and continuing to develop as a team.”
Amorim also provided encouraging news regarding Mason Mount as Manchester United prepares for their away game on Sunday.
Mount has been sidelined since mid-December after being substituted in the first half during a derby match against Manchester City. It has been a difficult period for the England international, who was beginning to excel in Amorim’s revamped 3-4-3 formation.
However, he returned to training earlier this week, and the coach indicated he could be involved at the King Power Stadium.
“I believe he’s going to be on the bench,” Amorim stated after the Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday. “We’ll see how he progresses, but we need every player available, and if he’s fit, he’ll play. Even a few minutes from Mason would be valuable.”
When asked about his eagerness to have Mount back in the squad, Ruben replied with enthusiasm: “I’ve always said I have great admiration for Mason Mount. I see how hard he works and how much he wants to succeed.”
“He takes care of his diet, his fitness is excellent, and he’s putting in immense effort, perhaps even overthinking things at times. He’s a European champion and an exceptionally talented player.”
“When a player puts in as much effort as he does, he has our full support at the club. We’ll manage his training carefully to ensure he stays fit. I believe very much in Mason Mount, and we require players like him,” he concluded.

Tim David Faces Criticism for Obscene Celebration against Mumbai Indians
IPL 2026 : In a dramatic IPL 2026 clash, Royal Challengers Bengaluru player Tim David has landed in controversy for allegedly making an obscene gesture after his team’s thrilling win against Mumbai Indians.
The incident took place during the 54th match of the Indian Premier League in Raipur. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 167 runs in 20 overs and set a competitive target for RCB.
While chasing the target, Royal Challengers Bengaluru needed 15 runs in the final over. The match went down to the last ball, where RCB required two runs for victory. Rasikh Dar helped the team secure a thrilling win in the final delivery.
Soon after the victory, Tim David, who was in the dugout, was seen allegedly showing his middle finger towards the Mumbai Indians camp during the celebrations. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media and triggered criticism from cricket fans.
Reports suggest that match officials could take disciplinary action against the Australian batter. Under the ICC Code of Conduct, obscene or offensive gestures are considered a serious offence.
Such behaviour usually falls under Level 1 or Level 2 breaches of the ICC rules. Players found guilty can face fines ranging from 50 percent to 100 percent of their match fees. Demerit points may also be added to their disciplinary record. Repeated offences can even lead to suspension from matches.

Pooran Super over Call Sparks Criticism
Sports: Lucknow Super Giants’ captain Rishabh Pant faced criticism after a failed Super Over decision against Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG sent Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to bat, with Pooran on strike against Sunil Narine.
Pooran was bowled on the first ball, leading to heavy criticism from fans. Many questioned the decision, especially because Narine had earlier troubled Pooran in a past Super Over.
LSG coach Justin Langer defended the move. He said the team trusted Pooran as he has faced Narine many times and has a strong record against him. He added that teams must back their best players even in difficult moments.
Langer also said Pooran is one of the best T20 players in recent years but is currently low on confidence. He assured that the team is working hard to help him regain form
