Vikrant Massey mourns the loss of his cousin in a tragic event: On June 12, an Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The Boeing 787-8, operating as Flight AI-171, went down just minutes after departure at 1:38 PM IST, crashing into the Meghaninagar area near the airport.

The accident resulted in the deaths of over 200 individuals and sent shockwaves throughout the nation. There were 242 people onboard, including both passengers and crew members. Air India confirmed that the flight was carrying 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals.

The plane was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a seasoned aviator with over 8,200 flight hours, alongside First Officer Clive Kunder, who had accumulated 1,100 hours of experience.

The entire country is mourning this tremendous loss, with tributes flooding in from all sectors, including Bollywood. Icons like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Anushka Sharma shared their condolences on social media for the grieving families.

Among the heartfelt messages, Vikrant Massey’s resonated deeply. In a poignant Instagram post, he revealed that the tragedy impacted his own family. His uncle, Clifford Kunder, lost his son, Clive Kunder, who was the First Officer on the ill-fated flight.

“My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of those who perished in this unimaginably tragic crash in Ahmedabad today,” Massey expressed. “It pains me even more to know that my uncle, Clifford Kunder, has lost his son, Clive Kunder, who was piloting that fateful flight. May God provide strength to you and your family, uncle, and to all who are deeply affected.”
