Uttar Pradesh Government to Commence Wheat Procurement for Rabi Season Starting Tomorrow

Published

on

The Uttar Pradesh government will commence its wheat procurement for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26 starting tomorrow, running until June 15, across 6,500 procurement centers. The Central government has established the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at Rs 2,425 per quintal, marking a Rs 150 increase from last year’s price of Rs 2,275. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to ensure that farmers receive payments within 48 hours.

He has emphasized the need for sufficient facilities at procurement centers to guarantee a smooth process for farmers. Additionally, mobile centers will be deployed to reach farmers in their villages for purchasing wheat.

Since the registration for wheat sales began on March 1, over 2.65 lakh farmers in Uttar Pradesh have signed up. Farmers must register or renew their registration through the Department of Food and Civil Supplies portal (fcs.up.gov.in) or the UP Kisan Mitra mobile app prior to selling their wheat. The department has advised farmers to thoroughly clean and dry their wheat, removing any moisture, soil, stones, and dust before transporting it to procurement centers. Notably, this year, tenant farmers are also eligible to register and sell their wheat.

The Food and Civil Supplies Department has announced that wheat procurement will occur daily from 8 am to 8 pm, excluding Sundays and public holidays, until June 15. The Yogi government has assured a streamlined process for farmers, with all necessary arrangements already in place. A toll-free helpline (18001800150) is available to address any concerns, and farmers can also reach out to the District Food Marketing Officer, Tehsil Regional Marketing Officer, or Block Marketing Officer for support.

A total of 6,500 procurement centers have been set up under the Food and Civil Supplies Department, along with eight other procurement agencies. Payments for wheat will be directly transferred to farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts within 48 hours through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The official procurement process will start on March 17, with all preparations finalized.
