Uttar Pradesh Government to Carry Out 8th Economic Census Digitally
Through this census, the government seeks to create focused policies and welfare programs to uplift all segments of society and promote growth across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to develop a robust plan for the upcoming census, targeting significant advancements in Uttar Pradesh’s economy.
The Yogi administration views this census not just as a means of data collection but as a pivotal instrument for driving economic progress.
An official announcement on Tuesday stated that, to ensure accuracy and efficiency, the census will be conducted digitally, as per the Chief Minister’s vision. A web-based mobile application is being created to enable real-time data verification, monitoring, and analysis, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
This digital approach will assess the current landscape of enterprises, self-employed individuals, workers, and small traders, thus improving the effectiveness of government initiatives. The government plans to engage 17,000 enumerators and 6,000 supervisors for the census, providing training to local youth to ensure precise data collection while simultaneously creating job and skill development opportunities. This initiative underscores the Yogi government’s dedication to economic empowerment and progress.
Notably, CM Yogi Adityanath has decided to include women as enumerators in the Eighth Economic Census 2025-26, fostering their active involvement. The government aims to empower women through technical training and skills in data collection while providing access to digital platforms, thereby promoting self-reliance.
This digital economic census will also mark a significant step in recognizing small entrepreneurs and businesses throughout Uttar Pradesh. By documenting the contributions of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the initiative aspires to elevate these businesses to national and international prominence.
The data-driven approach will enable the government to craft impactful policies, ensuring that small businesses receive financial support, market access, training, and technical assistance. This initiative is set to benefit traders and entrepreneurs from both urban and rural backgrounds, bolstering the state’s economic landscape.
With a fully digital methodology, the census is expected to enhance efficiency, expedite data collection, and provide real-time insights.
The Yogi government is implementing a multi-tiered monitoring framework for the economic census, involving District Magistrates, District Statistical Officers, and an IT Expert Team. IT professionals will ensure data accuracy and integrity through advanced digital solutions, aiming to narrow the economic divide between rural and urban regions.
In rural areas, the emphasis will be on fostering small enterprises and generating job opportunities for the youth. Meanwhile, urban startups and MSMEs will receive robust support and empowerment, driving local production and stimulating economic growth.
The government will develop inclusive economic policies to guarantee that all citizens benefit and to encourage balanced development throughout the state.

Daughter Held for Mother’s Murder; Father’s Death Also Under Scanner?
Jaipur: A 23-year-old woman, Ayushi Sharma, who was arrested for allegedly plotting her mother’s murder to obtain a government job, is now facing fresh allegations linked to her father’s death.
Ayushi’s uncle has claimed that the death of her father, Vijay Sharma, may not have been natural. He has demanded a police investigation into the case. Police have started looking into the allegation.
According to the police, Ayushi planned the murder of her mother, Neeraj Sharma, with the help of her uncle Mohan Swaroop and her relative Balram alias Ravi. The motive was to gain control of family property and secure her mother’s government job.
Police said the accused paid Rs.7 lakh to contract killers to carry out the murder. The attackers allegedly rammed an SUV into Neeraj Sharma and tried to make it look like a road accident.
Neeraj Sharma, 45, was working as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in a court. On July 3, she was returning home after dropping her son at tuition when a speeding Scorpio SUV allegedly hit her near Pratap Nagar. She was thrown nearly 100 feet and died on the spot. The accused fled after the incident.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the area. They found that the incident was not an accident but a planned murder. The investigation later exposed the conspiracy.
Police have arrested seven people, including Ayushi Sharma, in connection with the case. One accused is still absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest him.

Police said Neeraj Sharma had received the government job on compassionate grounds after the death of her husband about a year ago. Investigators believe Ayushi wanted the job for herself. Police also said there had been a property dispute between the mother and daughter for the past two to three years.
During questioning, Ayushi allegedly told police that she wanted her late father’s government job. However, after his death, the job was given to her mother. She reportedly admitted that this disappointment, along with the property dispute, became the reason for planning the murder.
