Udupi: Dispute Over Extra Pani Puri; Case Registered

Udupi: A verbal altercation over being given an extra pani puri escalated into a physical assault in Udupi.

The incident took place near the Malpe beach pani puri stall, where a group of tourists from Mandya district got into an argument with the local pani puri vendor over receiving one extra pani puri. The argument soon turned into a scuffle, with both sides allegedly assaulting each other.

The matter has recently come to light, and complaints have been registered. In the first case, the accused are Sudeep, Sampath, Puneet, Mahesh, and Kanna Vaiji Aravind. In the second case, the accused are Ramesh Monu and Vinod, who have been taken into custody.

Udupi: Deep-Sea Fishermen Hit a Big Catch

Udupi: Deep-sea fishermen off the Udupi coast received a major boost after a massive haul of fish was caught in their nets. The sudden catch is estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees.

The fishermen had ventured far into the Arabian Sea after spending a large amount of money on fuel and supplies. Often, such trips end in disappointment when there is little or no catch. However, this time, the fishermen were pleasantly surprised.

A large quantity of Thoreke fish, known in English as Stingray, was caught in their nets. The sight of heaps of fish brought great joy to the fishermen.

Stingray fish are in high demand and are also dried and sold as part of a local business. The unexpected catch has brought significant profit to the fishing crew.

Death Toll Rises to Four in Karkala Miyaru Road Accident

Udupi: The death toll in the tragic road accident at Miyaru Kambala Cross in Karkala taluk has risen to four. A woman who was undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Saturday when a private bus collided head-on with a Tufan vehicle near Miyaru. Nine people, including a two-year-old child, were injured in the mishap. The condition of five of the injured is reported to be serious.

The deceased have been identified as Mannappa (27), the driver of the Tufan vehicle, Chethan (28), Rohith (28), and Mallamma (50). Mallamma died later while receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital.

The injured are identified as Sangeetha (40), Kavitha (38), Basavaraj (56), Kishore (28), Lakshmi (25), Jyothi (25), Jayalakshmi (24), and two-year-old Kushal. All the deceased and injured are residents of Kalaburagi district.

There were 13 people, including a child, travelling in the Tufan vehicle. Five critically injured persons have been shifted to Manipal Hospital. The remaining injured, including the child who escaped with minor injuries, are being treated at Karkala Hospital.

According to the police, the victims had travelled from Kalaburagi to visit religious places. After visiting the Sri Krishna Math in Udupi, they were heading towards Dharmasthala via Karkala. At Miyaru, a private bus coming at high speed from Belthangady towards Karkala allegedly crossed to the wrong side of the road at a curve and collided with the Tufan vehicle.

The impact of the collision completely damaged the Tufan vehicle. All its occupants sustained injuries. Three people died on the spot due to severe injuries. Mallamma later died during treatment.

A case has been registered at the Karkala Town Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, local residents have expressed strong anger over frequent accidents on this stretch. Road construction work is underway from the Pulkeri Bypass to Mala Ghat. The public alleged that unscientific and incomplete roadwork is leading to repeated accidents. They demanded immediate action from the concerned authorities to prevent further loss of lives.

Young Man Killed After Being Run Over by Truck; Driver Absconds

Udupi: A tragic road accident occurred on Uppoor–KG Road in Brahmavar taluk of Udupi district.A young man died after being run over by a truck.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek (25).He was a resident of Matapadi village in Brahmavar taluk.

According to the police, Abhishek was riding his motorcycle towards Udupi.A truck reportedly hit his bike during the journey.

Abhishek fell onto the road and came under the truck’s tyre.He died on the spot due to severe injuries.

After the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
