Udupi: Anna Bhagya rice stock found in private shop; one arrested
Udupi: A man has been arrested by the Hiriyadka police on June 10 in connection with illegally stocking rice meant for the government’s free Anna Bhagya scheme at a private shop in Mambettu, a village in Bommarabettu, Hiriyadka, Udupi.
The arrested has been identified as Vasudeva Prabhu (56). Officials from the food department raided Prabhu General Store, seizing 55 quintals and 60 kg of rice worth ₹1,27,880, which was allegedly procured from the public and stocked illegally. After seizing the rice, the Hiriyadka police took custody of the accused and produced him before the court.
The raid was conducted after food inspectors from Udupi received a tip-off regarding the stockpile. With the assistance of Hiriyadka police, a joint operation was carried out. Upon verification, officials confirmed that the stocked rice belonged to the Anna Bhagya scheme, meant for free public distribution, leading to the arrest of the accused.
The stockpile was discovered in the sit-out area of Prabhu General Store during the raid.

Shirur Paryaya Mahotsava Celebrated at Sri Krishna Math
Udupi: Udupi witnessed grand celebrations at the Sri Krishna Math on the occasion of the Shirur Paryaya Mahotsava.

Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji of Shirur Math ascended the Sarvajna Peetha during the historic ceremony.
Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji is the youngest seer to ascend the Sarvajna Peetha.
He has assumed the responsibility of performing the worship of Lord Sri Krishna for the next two years.
The fourth Paryaya Mahotsava of Puttige Math Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji concluded in a grand manner.This Paryaya marks the 253rd biennial Paryaya in the history of Sri Krishna Math.
The Akshaya Patra was formally handed over at the auspicious time of 5.45 am on January 18.This event marked the first Paryaya Mahotsava of Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji.
In the early hours at 1.30 am, Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji took a holy dip at Danda Tirtha in Kapu taluk.At 3.00 am, the grand Paryaya procession began from Jodukatte.
More than 100 cultural troupes, tableaux, and bhajana teams participated in the procession.The procession concluded with the palanquin procession of the Ashta Mathadhipatis.
The Paryaya Mathadhipati arrived in a traditional palanquin carried on shoulders.The other six Mathadhipatis arrived in vehicle-mounted palanquins.A tableau carrying the replica of late Sri Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji was also part of the procession.
At 5.15 am, Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji had darshan of Lord Sri Krishna through Kanakana Kindi.He later offered prayers at the Chandramoulishwara and Ananteshwara temples.
At 5.55 am, a traditional durbar was held at the Badagu Malige.The Ashta Mathadhipatis were honored with the Aralu Gaddige ceremony.

The Paryaya Durbar programme began at 6.15 am at the Rajangana.Several religious leaders and political leaders attended the event.The Ashta Mathadhipatis delivered their blessing messages.The Paryaya Peethadhipati also delivered his message.
At 10.30 am, Sri Vedavardhana Tirtha Swamiji performed the first Mahapuja to Lord Sri Krishna.Cultural and religious programmes will continue across the city for the next one week.

Udupi:Two Arrested for Illegal Cattle Transportation
Udupi: Police have arrested two persons for illegally transporting cattle in Udupi district.The arrests were made under the Hebri Police Station limits.

The accused were caught near the Ganjimutt bus stop at Mooduteraar village in Mangaluru taluk.The arrested persons have been identified as Wasim Akram and Mohammed Khaja, both residents of Kemmannu.
Hebri police said the accused were transporting cattle without valid permission.A case has been registered at Hebri Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Cases were also booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Sections of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 2020, have also been invoked.The accused were produced before the court after their arrest.
