Celebrated playback singer Udit Narayan recently made headlines due to a viral video featuring him kissing a female fan. During an event in the city on Monday, he humorously poked fun at himself while attending the trailer launch of the film ‘Pintu Ki Pappi,’ which was also graced by choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

While addressing the media, Udit said, “I’d like to congratulate Ganesh ji on the remarkable title he’s chosen. However, perhaps we should reconsider it. ‘Pappi’ works, but what about ‘Pintu Ki Puppy’? Let’s hope it doesn’t turn into ‘Udit Ki Pappi.’”

He went on to comment, “It’s quite a coincidence that this is all happening around the release. Just so you know, that video of mine is actually two years old, filmed in Australia. Kudos to the entire team; the music is fantastic, and the writing is exceptional. Everyone praises the songs I’ve sung and recorded, but the effort truly deserves recognition.”

Last month, Udit stirred up some controversy as an old video surfaced, showing him kissing a female fan on the lips during a performance. In this footage, while performing the classic track ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ from the film ‘Mohra,’ a female fan approached him for a selfie and ended up kissing him on the cheek, to which he responded by kissing her lips, as seen in the now-viral videos.

Although the 69-year-old singer, who is also the father of singer Aditya Narayan, has not addressed the incident directly, social media users have expressed their outrage over the event.

Udit Narayan is a versatile artist who has recorded songs in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, and others. He has received numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and recognition from the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.
