Tragic Snakebite Claims Woman’s Life in Sullia

Sullia : A 53-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being bitten by a venomous snake in Aletti village of Sullia taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Radhamma, a resident of Kudembi in Aletti. The incident occurred while she was cutting grass in her plantation when the snake bit her. Local residents immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Sullia. However, she was declared dead upon arrival.

Radhamma is survived by her husband and two daughters. A case has been registered at the Sullia police station, and further investigation is underway.

This unfortunate incident highlights the risks faced by those working in rural and agricultural areas, particularly during the monsoon season when snake activity increases.

Auto Driver Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident Near Sullia

Sullia: An auto-rickshaw driver was killed in a tragic hit-and-run accident near the Sampaje Gate in Kodagu on Tuesday.

The accident occurred near a petrol pump at Sampaje Gate. An auto-rickshaw was traveling from Sampaje Gate towards Chadavu. A car hit the auto from behind at a curve on the road. After the collision, the car driver fled the scene.

Due to the impact, the auto driver fell onto the road. At the same time, a tipper coming from the opposite direction ran over him. The auto driver suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Sundara Chittikkana, aged 56. He was a resident of Sullia and worked as an auto driver.

Another passenger who was traveling in the auto was also injured in the accident. The injured person was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Efforts are on to trace the car involved in the hit-and-run incident.

Mother and Three-Year-Old Child Found Dead in Pond at Sullia

Sullia: The bodies of a mother and her three-year-old child were found in a pond near their house at Arvar village in Kodiyal, Sullia taluk.

The deceased have been identified as Madhushree (34) and her three-year-old child Dhanvi. Madhushree was the wife of Harish, a resident of Arvar.

According to the police, Harish was living with his mother, wife, and child in their house at Arvar. On Saturday night, Madhushree and the child had gone to sleep at home. On Sunday morning, when they were not found in the house, family members began searching for them.

During the search, the bodies of Madhushree and the child were found in a pond located in a neighbouring property close to their house. When the bodies were recovered, the child was found clinging to the mother.

It is suspected that Madhushree may have committed suicide by tying the child to her waist with a cloth and jumping into the pond. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Madhushree was originally from Innomogru village in Puttur taluk. She had married Harish four years ago.

While the incident is being treated as a suspected suicide, Madhushree’s mother, Ratnavathi, has lodged a complaint with the Bellare police, expressing suspicion over her daughter’s death. At the same time, Madhushree’s father, Rukmayya Gowda, has also filed a separate complaint stating that his daughter and grandchild died after jumping into the pond.

The Bellare police have registered two separate cases and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Young Woman from Sullia Gives Life to Others Through Organ Donation

Sullia: Sindhu Shetty, an unmarried young woman from Rathabeedi in Sullia, died after suffering a brain haemorrhage. In a noble gesture, her family donated her organs, giving new life to several patients.

Sindhu, a graduate of Sullia Government College, was working at the Puttur Adarsha Multipurpose Cooperative Bank. She fell ill with a sudden headache on December 16 and was shifted from a local hospital to KVG Hospital in Sullia, and later to First Neuro Hospital in Mangaluru, where she was declared brain dead.

Her organs were transported to hospitals in Mysuru and Mangaluru, including Apollo, AJ, KMC, and KS Hegde hospitals. Her last rites were performed at Siddakatte.
