Tata Motors Unveils Passenger Vehicle Range in Sri Lanka

Tata Motors has officially launched its new lineup of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Sri Lanka, collaborating with DIMO, a leading auto wholesaler in the country.
A release from Tata Motors highlighted that the launch event showcased popular SUVs like the Tata Punch, Tata Nexon, and Tata Curvv.
Additionally, Tata Motors has introduced its well-received electric hatchback, the Tiago.ev, aiming to make electric vehicle technology more accessible to the Sri Lankan market.

The current lineup of ICE and Electric Vehicles from Tata Motors demonstrates innovative technology, modern designs, superior safety features, and exceptional performance. Both Tata Motors and DIMO took the opportunity to present an exclusive preview of Tata’s strong EV portfolio, including the Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, and Curvv.ev, showcasing the brand’s product capabilities.
Yash Khandelwal, head of international business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “We are excited to be in Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone in our international strategy. Tata Motors has evolved significantly, and what better way to celebrate our return than with a new, innovative product portfolio? Our vehicles are tailored to captivate the Sri Lankan market while setting new benchmarks with their striking design, state-of-the-art features, top-notch safety, and unmatched after-sales service. We’re particularly excited to introduce the Tiago.ev—an electric hatchback that has already made a significant impact in India, Nepal, and Bhutan by making electric mobility both available and desirable. Alongside our trusted partner DIMO, we are confident in our ability to enhance Sri Lanka’s mobility landscape and provide an exceptional driving experience.”
During the launch, DIMO Executive Director Rajeev Pandithage remarked, “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Tata Motors, being the first passenger vehicle brand to enter Sri Lanka after the market reopened. The new ICE and Electric Vehicle range sets a high standard in the automotive sector, reflecting innovation, safety, and sustainability at an affordable price. Supported by DIMO’s exceptional after-sales service, we guarantee an outstanding ownership experience through superior support, reinforcing our commitment to excellence for Sri Lankan customers. According to the announcement, all ICE vehicles from Tata Motors will be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty of three years or 100,000 km, while electric vehicles will carry a warranty of three years or 125,000 km. Additionally, the high-voltage battery and motor in EVs will have an eight-year or 165,000 km warranty. Customers can also take advantage of DIMO’s 24/7 free roadside assistance across the island, along with support from trained technical experts and dedicated sales consultants and service advisors throughout the ownership experience.

Opendoor Shuts Down India Operations, 250 Employees Affected

Business: US-based real estate technology company Opendoor has decided to close its operations in India. The move will impact nearly 250 employees.

CEO Kaz Nejatian said the company is bringing operational roles closer to its customers in the United States. He explained that most of Opendoor’s customers are based in America.

The company said the decision is not related to the performance of its India team. Nejatian praised the employees for their hard work and contributions.

Affected workers will receive severance pay, job placement support, and other assistance. A small number of employees will stay temporarily to help with the transition.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price Increased by Rs 29

New Delhi: The price of domestic LPG cooking gas cylinders has been increased by Rs 29 across India. This is the second price hike in the last three months.

The increase comes as global energy prices continue to rise due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

After the revision, a domestic LPG cylinder now costs Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.40 in Mumbai, Rs 968 in Kolkata, and Rs 957.50 in Chennai. In Bengaluru, the new price is Rs 944.50 per cylinder.

The government said the cost of supplying LPG has increased significantly. However, subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana continue to help over 10 crore beneficiaries.

Honda Begins Delivery of 2026 City Hybrid

Business: Honda Cars India has started delivering the new 2026 Honda City Hybrid to customers. The first car was handed over at a dealership in Bengaluru.

Honda President and CEO Takashi Nakajima attended the special delivery event. Other senior company officials were also present.

The first customer received a Crystal Black Pearl Honda City Hybrid. The car was delivered with a symbolic key and a gift hamper.

The updated City comes with new features such as ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera. It also offers wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a sunroof.

The sedan is available with petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options. Honda claims the hybrid version delivers a mileage of 27.26 kmpl.
