Swiggy Riders in Mangaluru Strike Over Unpaid Salaries
Mangaluru: Swiggy food delivery riders in Mangaluru have gone on strike due to unpaid salaries, affecting food delivery operations across the city. Nearly half of the riders are participating in the strike, demanding immediate payment for their pending wages.
The delivery partners have expressed frustration over the company’s failure to clear their dues, which has led to disruption in daily operations. According to sources, Swiggy riders typically rely on their earnings from deliveries to meet their financial needs, and delays in salary payments have caused significant hardship for them.
A majority of the riders are part of the strike, which has resulted in a considerable impact on food deliveries in Mangaluru. While some riders continue to work, the strike has led to delays and cancellations in food delivery services.
The riders are also raising concerns about the company’s commission structure and the rising operational costs, which have made it increasingly difficult for them to earn a reasonable income.
Swiggy has not yet commented on the issue or provided a timeline for resolving the salary dispute. However, riders have warned of further action if their demands are not met in the coming days.
The strike has garnered attention from the public, as many customers in Mangaluru have been left waiting for their food deliveries, with some turning to alternative platforms. The situation has created tension between Swiggy, its delivery partners, and customers in the region.
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Traffic Police organised a special awareness programme on school bus safety at Town Hall in Mangaluru.
The programme was held for school bus drivers, owners, managers and members of school management committees.
Around 600 representatives from various schools in Mangaluru city took part in the programme.
The participants were given detailed information on the safe transportation of schoolchildren.
Police officials explained the legal rules that school bus drivers and attendants must follow. They also created awareness about road safety measures and traffic rules.
The responsibilities of drivers and bus staff in ensuring the safety of children were also highlighted. School managements were instructed to strictly follow all safety standards for school vehicles.
They were also asked to properly monitor the duties of drivers and attendants.
The authorities stressed the need to take all necessary precautionary measures to protect schoolchildren.

Police warned that legal action would be taken against school bus drivers who violate traffic rules.
A pledge on road safety and the importance of following traffic regulations was administered during the programme.
Officials from the police, transport and education departments were present on the occasion.
Mangaluru: Varamahalakshmi and Brahmashri Narayana Guru Jayanti will be celebrated at the Sri Gokarnanath Temple in Kudroli on August 28.
The temple administration has made special arrangements to accommodate the large number of devotees expected to visit the temple on the occasion.
Temple Administration Committee Treasurer R. Padmaraj said bhajana teams will also get an opportunity to participate in the celebrations.
Speaking to Namma Kudla Channel, Padmaraj said the number of devotees visiting the temple on Varamahalakshmi Day has been increasing every year.
This year, Narayana Guru Jayanti and Varamahalakshmi fall on the same day. Therefore, special arrangements have been made to prevent overcrowding and ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
The Varamahalakshmi puja will be held at the Gokarnanath Kalyana Mantapa, where Sharada Mata is traditionally installed during the temple celebrations.

Padmaraj said all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that devotees can have a comfortable and peaceful darshan.
Mangaluru: The KMC Navachaitanya Yoga Class at Bejai, Mangaluru, celebrated its 22nd anniversary with various programmes.
Dr. Deepak R. Mady, a renowned doctor from KMC Attavar, inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mady thanked Dr. T. M. A. Pai for his contribution to the establishment of KMC. He said that the institution was founded because of the vision and efforts of Dr. T. M. A. Pai.
Wheelchairs were distributed to Manika of Chetana School and Krishnappa Poojary of Ujire.
Scholarships were presented to Gauri, Kalashree, Likhith and Namrath for successfully completing their SSLC and PU examinations.
Senior members of the yoga class, Usha S. Kumar, Prema S. Adiga and Maya Naik, were honoured during the programme.
