Stampede during RCB Victory Celebration: MLA Kamath Expresses Outrage
Mangaluru: The tragic stampede that occurred during the RCB victory celebration is directly the responsibility of the ruling Congress government, said MLA Vedavyas Kamath. He demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara resign immediately. Kamath insisted that an FIR should be registered naming the CM, DCM, and Home Minister as Accused Nos. 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
Speaking during a protest held near PVS Circle in the city on Friday, Kamath said that it was Siddaramaiah himself who had invited people through social media to attend and participate in the celebration. “The event was organized for political mileage. People were invited and then subjected to a lathi charge,” he said.
He further criticized the government for suspending police officials after the incident and shifting the blame onto them. Kamath recalled that Siddaramaiah had once demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation over the Pahalgam incident and said he should now take responsibility for the Bengaluru stampede and step down.
“There was no proper planning for the celebration. Initially, they said passes would be distributed, but later announced free entry. This confusion led to the stampede,” he alleged. “Siddaramaiah’s government, which once criticized the Kumbh Mela attended by 65 crore people, could not even manage a crowd of one lakh. Due to the government’s negligence, innocent lives were lost,” he expressed with anger.

Karnataka Celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava with Pride and Unity
The state of Karnataka is celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava today with great pride and enthusiasm. The day marks the formation of the modern state of Karnataka on November 1, 1956, when all Kannada-speaking regions were united to form the then Mysore State. The day also recognizes the achievements of individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the state through the prestigious Rajyotsava Awards, Karnataka’s second-highest civilian honor.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the Karnataka flag and the singing of the state anthem. Government offices, schools, and institutions organized cultural programs showcasing traditional music, folk dances, and art performances. Streets and public buildings across cities and towns were decorated with red and yellow flags, symbolizing the colors of Karnataka.
Many schools and colleges held special assemblies to teach students about the significance of the day. People from all walks of life participated in rallies and events to express their love for the Kannada language.
The festival was not limited to Karnataka alone. Kannadiga communities living in other parts of India and abroad also celebrated the day with equal excitement, organizing cultural gatherings and community events.
