Speed Limit Imposed on Surathkal–Nanthur Junction National Highway

Published

on

Mangaluru: Due to heavy rainfall in the coastal region, the speed limit on the national highway stretch between Surathkal and Nanthur Junction has been fixed at 50 kilometers per hour, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This restriction will remain in effect until the end of September.

Several sections of the national highway have deteriorated due to the excessive rainfall, making high-speed travel unsafe. Hence, the NHAI has advised two-wheelers and three-wheelers to use the service roads wherever available along the route.

The highway between Surathkal and Nanthur is currently damaged, yet all types of vehicles — including heavy, light, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers — continue to use it. At times, in an effort to avoid potholes, vehicles move erratically, increasing the risk of accidents.

For this reason, NHAI officials have recommended that in areas like Panambur, Surathkal, Baikampady, and Kulur, where service roads are available, two-wheelers should use those roads for safer travel.
