South Korean authorities have issued a summons to a Japanese woman in her 50s for kissing BTS member Jin without his consent during a meet-and-greet event last summer. The incident, which went viral online, has now led to police action for sexual harassment.

The encounter occurred in Seoul during Jin’s first public appearance after completing his mandatory 18-month military service. At the free meet-and-greet, Jin embraced around 1,000 fans selected through a raffle and performed for an audience of 3,000. However, the woman went beyond a simple hug and kissed his cheek, catching the 33-year-old unexpectedly and prompting him to turn his face away. According to South Korean media outlet Yonhap, the woman later recounted the experience in a blog post, sharing, “My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft.”

The woman’s actions provoked outrage among fans, prompting several to file a complaint, which initiated an investigation by local police. The Songpa police station has confirmed that the woman has been booked and summoned on charges related to sexual harassment but has withheld her identity for privacy reasons.

Meanwhile, since his discharge from the military, Jin has kept fans engaged by appearing on various variety shows and releasing his debut solo album, ‘Happy’, which quickly became a favorite among K-pop lovers. Additionally, he made his first solo appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, having previously visited the show with his fellow BTS members. Jin also contributed to the soundtrack for the series ‘When the Stars Gossip’, lending his voice to the track ‘Close to You’, which captures the blossoming romance between characters Gong Ryong and Commander Eve.
