Bollywood favorite Sonu Nigam has ignited a storm on social media following his exclusion from the IIFA Awards 2025 nominations. Despite his impressive performance in the hit song ‘Mere Dholna 3.0’ from ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, the celebrated singer was not nominated for Best Playback Singer (Male).

The ceremony, which took place in Jaipur, featured heavyweights such as Arijit Singh, Karan Aujla, Diljit Dosanjh, Baadshah, Jubin Nautiyal, and Mitraz. Ultimately, Jubin Nautiyal took home the award. However, many fans felt Sonu Nigam’s omission was a significant oversight.

And Nigam himself voiced his displeasure regarding the snub! On Wednesday, he shared a screenshot of the nominee list on Instagram, accompanied by a pointed caption: “Thank you, IIFA… After all, you were answerable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.” To emphasize his point, he played ‘Mere Dholna 3.0’ in the background, reminding everyone of the song’s merit.

Fans quickly rallied to his defense, with one user stating, “Sonu Nigam himself is an award. They don’t have the ability to measure the depth of your voice.” Composer Amaal Malik also chimed in, remarking, “Such is the world that we live in… Mazaak banake rakh diya hai (They have turned it into a joke).”

Numerous others echoed similar sentiments, labeling the snub as unjust and indicative of the dwindling credibility of award shows.
