Sonakshi Sinha Opens Up About Having a Strict Curfew Until Age 32

Sonakshi Sinha, known for her role in ‘Dabangg,’ has recently shared insights about her strict upbringing. Even after turning 30, she still adhered to curfew rules, primarily enforced by her mother, Poonam Sinha. During a candid conversation with Hautterfly, Sonakshi discussed the dynamics of their mother-daughter relationship and how they learned from one another.

Reflecting on her childhood, Sonakshi revealed, “I had a curfew of 1:30 am once I started working, and that continued until I was 32. Zaheer was usually the reason for me breaking curfew. Whenever I did, I faced the music when I got home. I lived in a place I jokingly referred to as a fortress called Ramayana, situated on the 10th floor while my parents were on the fifth. Our building had a strict telephone operator named Mr. Jha, who would notify my parents the moment I returned home. A few times, I even instructed my man Friday to prevent him from calling.”

As the conversation continued, Sonakshi shared how she cleverly avoided her mother’s inquiries. “The day after my late nights, Mom would always want to know what time I got back. If Jha didn’t call, I would often lie. It’s a familiar tale in many households—parents calling you at midnight wondering where you are. They would scold me, emphasizing how it wouldn’t look good. My mother often referenced how my father would feel—she’d threaten to tell him. Thankfully, my dad is the most laid-back person ever; he has never scolded me.”

Sonakshi also highlighted the lessons she and her mother have imparted to one another. “My mom really wanted to raise me to be respectful and not to speak back, as that was how she was brought up. Now, however, times have changed, and I find myself teaching her things, too.”

On the professional front, Sonakshi’s most recent project was ‘Kakuda,’ where she starred alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. She is set to appear in her next film, ‘Nikita Roy and The Book of Darkness,’ alongside Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar.
