Actress Shruti Haasan recently attended the Indian premiere of her British psychological thriller, ‘The Eye,’ which opened the 5th Wench Film Festival. She has revealed her longstanding attraction to narratives that delve into themes of love, darkness, and self-discovery.

Shruti expressed that ‘The Eye’ provided her with a platform to explore these emotions through her performance. Set against the stunning backdrop of Greece, the film follows Diana, portrayed by Haasan, as she embarks on a poignant journey to scatter her late husband Felix’s ashes on a secluded island. What begins as a quest for closure soon leads her into the eerie and enigmatic ‘Evil Eye’ ritual, unraveling a haunting tale of grief, fate, and supernatural elements.

Reflecting on her experience, Shruti shared, “From the moment I came across the script, I felt that this film was meant for me. I’ve always been attracted to stories that probe into love, darkness, and self-discovery—concepts I resonate with profoundly. ‘The Eye’ offered me the chance to confront these emotions on screen, and collaborating with a remarkably talented all-female creative team made it even more extraordinary. It seemed as though the universe conspired to bring this opportunity to me.”

The film is directed by Daphne Schmon and produced by Fingerprint Content, marking Shruti Haasan’s highly anticipated international debut. The Wench Film Festival, founded by Sapna Bhavnani, is celebrated as India’s leading platform for horror, sci-fi, and fantasy cinema.

As a visually captivating psychological thriller, ‘The Eye’ promises to deliver a gripping cinematic experience that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, showcasing Haasan’s talent in complex and emotionally intense roles. The film features a script by acclaimed writer Emily Carlton and includes performances from international star Mark Rowley (known for ‘Last Kingdom’ and ‘Rogue Heroes’) along with British actors Anna Savva and Linda Marlowe.
