Sheesh Mahal vs Rajmahal !!! AAP, BJP Clash Over Luxury Allegations; Sanjay Singh Challenges Tour of PM’s Residence

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are locked in a war of words over allegations of extravagance at official residences. Responding to BJP’s claims of opulence at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bungalow, AAP has announced a media tour of the property to counter accusations.

BJP leaders have accused Kejriwal of turning his residence at 6, Flagstaff Road into a lavish “Sheesh Mahal,” alleging it features a “golden commode,” swimming pool, and mini-bar. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, during a press conference, said the tour—scheduled for 11 AM—would aim to verify these claims.

“We will visit the chief minister’s official residence and try to locate the golden commode, swimming pool, and mini-bar that the BJP alleges are there,” said Bharadwaj.

AAP also called for a similar public scrutiny of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence, which they termed a “Raj Mahal,” citing its ₹2,700 crore construction cost. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh challenged the BJP to organize a media tour of the PM’s house to ensure transparency.

The BJP’s Delhi chief, Virendra Sachdeva, has made Kejriwal’s residence a focal point in the party’s campaign, alleging misuse of public funds during the COVID-19 pandemic for costly renovations. BJP also claimed that items like the “golden commode” went missing after Kejriwal vacated the property.

AAP countered by emphasizing that both residences are government properties built with taxpayers’ money, suggesting that allegations of financial mismanagement should apply equally to both.

This strategic move by AAP aims to shift the narrative from BJP’s attacks on Kejriwal to raising questions about the costs associated with the Prime Minister’s residence, framing the issue as one of accountability and double standards.
