Senior Journalist Haryadi Manjunath Bhat Passes Away at 72
Udupi: Senior journalist Manjunath Bhat Haryadi (72) passed away on Sunday at his son’s residence in Bengaluru following a period of illness. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
Born in 1953 in Haryadi village, located in the Brahmavar taluk of Udupi district, Bhat began his professional career as a high school teacher after completing his degree from Poornaprajna College, Udupi. In 1977, he made a transition into journalism, starting with the Navabharat daily in Mangaluru.
Over the course of his distinguished career, he worked with leading Kannada publications such as Mungaru, Kannada Jana Antaranga, and Udayavani, serving in roles ranging from reporter to sub-editor. After retiring from active journalism, he moved to Bengaluru and continued contributing to the literary and editorial world.
Even post-retirement, Bhat remained deeply involved in intellectual and literary pursuits. He worked actively in Utthana, a monthly magazine, and was associated with the editorial division of Rashtrotthana Sahitya, a noted Kannada publishing house. He was also known for translating several English works into Kannada and played a key role as editor for various biographies.
His contributions to Kannada journalism and literature have been widely appreciated, and his passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Karnataka’s media and literary circles.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the family, and tributes have begun pouring in from journalists, writers, and readers across the state.

Udupi: Actor Harish Rai Laid to Rest
Udupi: The last rites of popular actor Harish Rai were held at the Hindu crematorium in Beedinagudde. His sons Roneth Rai and Roshan Rai performed the final rites.

Harish Rai, who passed away in Bengaluru, was brought to his home at Ambalpady in Udupi. The final rituals were conducted according to the Tulu Shivalli Madhva Brahmin tradition.
The rituals were held in front of the Tulasi Katte in the presence of priests. Close relatives, friends, and well-wishers attended the ceremony.

His brother Satish and other family members paid their last respects. His wife and siblings were also present during the final farewell.
The atmosphere was filled with emotion as family and fans bid a tearful goodbye to the respected actor.

Udupi ASI Dies of Heart Attack during Event
Udupi: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vishwanath (58) of Malpe Police Station passed away due to a heart attack on Friday, November 1.

Reports say that Vishwanath was attending a public program in Malpe when he suddenly felt uneasy and experienced chest pain. Moments later, he collapsed at the venue.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors confirmed that he had suffered a fatal heart attack.
Vishwanath had served in several police stations across Udupi district and was well-known for his friendly and approachable nature.
He had recently been transferred to the Malpe Police Station. His sudden death has deeply saddened his colleagues and local residents.

Foundation Laid for Udupi Showroom of Abharana Timeless Jewellers Bengaluru
Udupi: The foundation stone for the new Udupi showroom of Abharana Timeless Jewellers Bengaluru was laid near Ocean Pearl Hotel at Kadiyali, Udupi.

The ceremony was conducted by Sri Samyamindra Teertha Swamiji, the Pontiff of Kashi Math. Speaking on the occasion, Swamiji said that earning people’s trust is the biggest challenge in business. He added that if a company provides quality and attractive products, it will surely win the love and confidence of the customers.

Swamiji also said that fair competition in business benefits the customers. “The foundation stone for this showroom has been laid during the centenary year of Sri Sudhindra Teertha Swamiji. May the company grow further, open branches across the state, and gain a great reputation,” he said. Swamiji blessed the organization to progress while upholding faith, religion, and respect for society.

The religious rituals were led by Vemoo H. Yogeesh Bhat from Mangaluru.MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Yashpal A. Suvarna, and Congress leader Muniyalu Uday Kumar Shetty conveyed their best wishes.
