A video generated by AI featuring several prominent celebrities protesting Kanye West’s recent antisemitic comments has gone viral. The fabricated clip shows stars wearing T-shirts emblazoned with a middle finger and a Star of David, accompanied by the name “Kanye” underneath. This trending video includes AI-generated images of celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, and more. The clip emerged following Kanye West’s recent posts on X and his Yeezy website, which have fueled antisemitic sentiments. Scarlett Johansson, one of the featured celebrities, has condemned the viral video for its ‘misuse of AI’.

For context, West has made multiple antisemitic statements recently, openly praising Adolf Hitler and self-identifying as a “Nazi.” He has since deleted most of his Yeezy catalog but retained a controversial $20 T-shirt that features a Nazi swastika. On Monday, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned West’s decision to sell the t-shirt, labeling it as “further proof of Kanye’s antisemitism.” They noted that the product’s label, “HH-01,” is code for “Heil Hitler.” In addition to his inflammatory remarks about Jews, West also called for the release of Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs from prison.

In response to the protest video, Scarlett Johansson expressed her disapproval of the deepfake method used, despite the video’s intention. She stated, “It has been brought to my attention by family and friends that an AI-generated video featuring my likeness, in response to an antisemitic view, is circulating online and gaining traction.”

“I am a Jewish woman who has zero tolerance for antisemitism or hate of any kind. However, I believe that the threat of hate speech amplified by AI poses a greater danger than any individual’s actions. We must address the misuse of AI, regardless of the message it carries, or we risk losing our grip on reality.”

Johansson added, “I have, unfortunately, been a very public victim of AI, but the reality is that the threat of AI is something that affects everyone. There is an overwhelming wave of AI influence approaching, and while many progressive nations are responding appropriately, the US is stagnating on passing necessary legislation to protect its citizens from the looming dangers of AI.”

She urged officials to prioritize the issue, “I call on the US government to make legislation limiting AI usage a top priority. This is a bipartisan matter that significantly affects the immediate future of humanity.”

The contentious video also includes AI-generated imagery of Adam Levine, Mila Kunis, and Lenny Kravitz, as well as images of Mark Zuckerberg, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Stiller, Natalie Portman, David Schwimmer, and others. The clip features the Jewish folk song “Hava Nagila,” which is typically associated with celebratory cultural occasions.

Ori Bejerano, who created the AI videos, describes himself as an expert in generative AI on his Instagram bio. His original video includes a disclaimer that states, “This content was digitally created or altered with AI to seem real.” He emphasized, “It’s time to stop being silent and respond to antisemites like Kanye West in the strongest way possible,” in his Instagram caption. “We must urge social media platforms to cease providing a stage for antisemitism and hatred.”

Sharib and Nasreen got married on December 27, 2003. The couple has two children, a son and a daughter.
