Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija to Appear Before NCW Today

YouTuber Samay Raina and social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija are scheduled to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday via video conference. This appearance follows a controversy related to an episode of Raina’s popular show, *India’s Got Latent*. The NCW summoned the duo on February 11, after the Maharashtra Police filed a complaint regarding contentious remarks made during the episode.

While Raina and Mukhija prepare for the NCW hearing, fellow YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia of the BeerBiceps channel has yet to respond to the summons. Also set to appear on Monday are comedian Jaspreet Singh and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani. The producers of *India’s Got Latent*, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, will also be present for questioning.

The controversy began when Allahbadia made offensive comments during his guest appearance on the show, prompting widespread criticism and backlash from various sectors. In light of the uproar, Allahbadia issued a public apology, recognizing that his comments regarding parents were insensitive and disrespectful.

On social media platform X, he expressed his regret and affirmed his intention to cooperate with authorities: “I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better, and I genuinely apologize.”

Despite his apology, the situation has escalated, with Allahbadia revealing that he has received multiple death threats. “I’ve been inundated with death threats from individuals claiming they want to kill me and harm my family. There have been instances of people invading my mother’s clinic under false pretenses. I feel scared and uncertain about how to proceed. However, I will not flee. I have complete faith in the police and India’s judicial system,” he stated.

Alongside the NCW investigation, Allahbadia is taking legal action in response to several FIRs filed against him across India due to his comments. On Friday, he approached the Supreme Court to request that these FIRs be consolidated into a single case. His senior advocate, Abhinav Chandrachud, sought an urgent hearing before a bench led by Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna. Chandrachud informed the court of the multiple FIRs against Allahbadia and indicated that he had been summoned by the Assam Police on Friday. CJI Khanna clarified that the court does not accommodate oral requests for urgent hearings and will arrange a formal hearing for the case.
