‘Rust’ Trailer Released: Find Out When Alec Baldwin’s Film Hits Theaters!

Published

on

After numerous setbacks, controversy, and a heart-wrenching on-set incident, ‘Rust’ is finally set to hit theaters. The highly anticipated Western, featuring Alec Baldwin as an aging outlaw, has just released its first trailer, which is filled with tension, grit, and a haunting quest for redemption.

Taking place in 1880s Kansas, ‘Rust’ tells the story of Harland Rust (Baldwin), a fugitive gunslinger who emerges from hiding to save his teenage nephew, Lucas Hollister (Patrick Scott McDermott). Lucas faces execution for an accidental killing, and Rust is determined to prevent his hanging.

However, their escape is fraught with challenges, as they are pursued by the relentless bounty hunter Fenton “Preacher” Lang, portrayed by Travis Fimmel from ‘Vikings.’

**Watch the ‘Rust’ trailer here:**

The gripping new trailer begins with a haunting voiceover: “The only order that exists in this world is the order we impose. If a man loses sight of that, he’s got nothin’.” With expansive visuals of the harsh Old West, intense gunfights, and a relentless pursuit, the film promises an adrenaline-fueled experience. Yet, for many, ‘Rust’ holds a deeper significance, forever intertwined with a real-life tragedy.

Back in October 2021, ‘Rust’ made headlines for tragic reasons. A rehearsal went horribly wrong when a gun Baldwin was handling discharged a live round, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. This tragic incident ignited widespread discussions about safety protocols in the film industry, leading to drawn-out legal disputes. Baldwin initially faced involuntary manslaughter charges, which were ultimately dropped; however, the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was found guilty and is currently serving time.

After more than a year of delays, ‘Rust’ resumed filming in April 2023, though it moved from its original New Mexico setting to Montana, with a renewed commitment to finishing the project while honoring Hutchins’ legacy.

The film had a subdued premiere at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland last year, but is now preparing for a broader release.

Save the date: ‘Rust’ is set to premiere in select theaters across the U.S. on May 2. For those who prefer watching from home, it will also be available on Video on Demand via Ascending Media Group.
