on

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Rural Police have arrested Badruddin alias Addu (35), a known rowdy sheeter, in connection with a shooting incident that injured a mosque cleric in the city. The arrest followed an investigation that exposed inconsistencies in the initial reports of the case.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal said, “Our investigation confirmed that Badruddin was in possession of the weapon at the time of the incident. There were deliberate attempts to mislead the probe by falsely attributing ownership of the gun to another individual. Conflicting statements from Safwan further indicated efforts to protect the accused.”

Investigation into Illegal Firearms

Authorities have traced the weapon to an illegal transaction. Officials revealed that a man named Imran acquired the firearm from a supplier in Kerala and handed it over to Badruddin just a day before the shooting. Investigators are now working to uncover the firearm’s source and the reasons behind the attempts to misdirect the police.
