Bantwal: Guru Purnima will be celebrated at the renowned Shambhur Sri Shirdi Sai Mandir in Bantwal taluk on July 29. The temple is popularly known as the “Shirdi Sai Mandir of South India.”

The celebrations will begin at 5:00 a.m. with Kakad Aarti. Mangala Snana will be held at 6:00 a.m. Bhajana Sankirtana is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. The lamp-lighting ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., followed by Guru Vandana at 11:00 a.m.

At 12:00 noon, devotees will offer Pada Puja to Sai Baba. Maha Puja and Anna Santharpane will be held at 1:00 p.m. The evening programme includes Dhoop Aarti at 7:00 p.m., followed by Maha Puja and Anna Santharpane at 8:00 p.m. The Sai Baba Pallakki Utsava will begin at 8:30 p.m.

As part of the celebrations, Subedar Nagesh S. Poojari, who has served the nation in the armed forces for the past 26 years, will be honoured. The Bhajana Sankirtana will be led by music scholar Pallavi Prabhu.

The temple will also organise its special Aatida Thinasu programme on July 30. As in previous years, devotees can prepare traditional Aati dishes at home and personally offer them to Sai Baba. The food will later be distributed among devotees as prasadam, the temple president said.

Bantwal: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a man in Ganesh Nagar near Neralakatte in Bantwal.

The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Hukkappa Gowda. The accident occurred while he was crossing the road. A two-wheeler hit him, leading to his death.

Senior police officials visited the accident spot. District Additional Superintendent of Police A.S. Bhumareddy inspected the scene and is leading the investigation.

Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed.

Bantwal: A 43-year-old photographer died after a road accident between two bikes in Panemangalore, Bantwal. The incident happened on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Rakshith Shetty, a resident of Shambhoor. He was seriously injured in the accident and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

However, he died on Saturday despite treatment, police said.

Rakshith was an active member of the Bantwal unit of the Photographers’ Association and was known as a talented videographer.

Tragically, his daughter’s 10th birthday was scheduled to be celebrated at home on March 15. The family had already made preparations for the celebration.

But the house that was ready for a birthday celebration is now mourning the death of the father.

Rakshith’s brother Ranjith was also injured in an accident years ago and has been bedridden at home.

The poor family is now left without its main support.
