Ravichandran Ashwin: Hindi Is Not India’s National Language
Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin recently weighed in on the debate about Hindi being a national language. Speaking at a graduation ceremony in Chennai, Ashwin clarified that Hindi is not the national language, but an official language of India.
While Hindi is recognized as an official language by the Indian Constitution, the debate continues, especially in non-Hindi speaking states like Tamil Nadu. Ashwin’s statement adds to the ongoing discussions surrounding linguistic identity in India.
This debate has also sparked political tensions, with opposition leaders accusing the government of attempting to impose Hindi. Union Minister Amit Shah’s past remarks on “one nation, one language” have fueled further protests, though he later clarified that it was merely a request.

Suresh Raina Opposes IPL Impact Player Rule
Mumbai: Former Chennai Super Kings player Suresh Raina has opposed the Impact Player rule in the IPL.

Raina said the rule gives batters an extra advantage and puts more pressure on bowlers. He noted that teams are now scoring 200-plus runs more frequently, with some even approaching the 300-run mark.
“Bowlers have nothing left,” Raina said, adding that the rule has made their job much harder.
Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and several other players have also criticised the rule.
