Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina Face Charges Over Offensive Language

Published

Mumbai Police have filed a complaint against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as ‘BeerBiceps’, influencer Apoorva Makhija, who goes by ‘Rebel Kid’, and comedian Samay Raina, alongside the organizers of their show. The complaint stems from their controversial comments made during the latest episode of India’s Got Latent, which has generated significant backlash. Allahbadia is facing particular scrutiny for his statements, leading the police to initiate an investigation into the incident. The formal complaint has been lodged with both the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, alleging the use of abusive language on the show. The complainant is seeking stringent legal action against those involved. The controversy ignited following comments made by Allahbadia, with many netizens condemning his remarks as crass and derogatory. Even Raina, known for his dark humor, appeared taken aback by the exchange.

For context, during a conversation with a contestant, Allahbadia posed a shocking question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in once and stop it forever?” He further inquired about the length of the contestant’s private parts, which left Raina visibly stunned as he exclaimed, “What the f***?” and questioned, “Kya ho gaya hai Ranveer bhai ko? (What has happened to Ranveer?).”

This interaction has garnered widespread disapproval, with journalist Neelesh Misra criticizing the “perverted creators” influencing “India’s creative economy.” The complaint accuses the organizers and participants of intentionally making obscene remarks about women’s bodies, allegedly to obtain fame and financial gains through online viewership. The broadcast showcased the accused laughing and making inappropriate jokes, which the complainant considers a serious violation.

Public reactions on social media have been overwhelmingly negative. One user remarked, “Comedy today has devolved into vulgarity and needless mockery. The humor of legends like Jaspal Bhatti, Johnny Lever, and Raju Srivastava is sorely missed.” Another noted, “Think about the Indian celebrities, business leaders, and politicians who engage with those like BeerBiceps and Samay Raina. If there were a limit to vulgarity and obscenity, these individuals have surely crossed it.”

India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina, features various celebrity judges who score performers based on their talents and proficiency with words. Contestants must also predict their own scores, and if accurate, they win.
