Ramayana Film Honored in Indian Parliament with Exclusive Screening

The celebrated animated film “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” has achieved a significant milestone by receiving formal recognition from the Indian Parliament.

This honor is part of a broader tribute to the film’s cultural influence and artistic contributions, particularly highlighting the strong relationship between India and Japan.

A special screening to commemorate this achievement is scheduled for February 15th at the Indian Parliament, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in attendance.

This screening seeks to enhance appreciation for the timeless values of the Ramayana, which resonate with Indian traditions and spirituality, and to inspire future generations with its enduring lessons.

The initiative was further endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his “Mann Ki Baat” address, with the event expected to host members of Parliament and distinguished guests from the cultural sector, celebrating the collaborative effort behind the film’s creation.

Arjun Aggarwal, co-founder of Geek Pictures, expressed his appreciation for this recognition, stating, “We are truly honored by this acknowledgment from the Indian Parliament. It is a privilege to see our work celebrated at such a prestigious level. This screening is not merely about showcasing a film, but about honoring our rich heritage and the timeless narrative of the Ramayana, which continues to inspire us all.”

Directed by Koichi Sasaki, Ram Mohan, and Yugo Sako, the animated feature first debuted in 1993 and was subsequently showcased at the 24th International Film Festival of India. Initially aired on television, it has preserved its cultural relevance with an updated Hindi voice cast, featuring Yudhvir Dahiya as Rama, Sonal Kaushal as Sita, Uplaksh Kochhar as Lakshmana, and Rajesh Jolly as Ravana.

The original Hindi version featured prominent voices such as Arun Govil as Rama and Amrish Puri as Ravana.
