Ram Gopal Varma and Manoj Bajpayee Join Forces for a New Horror-Comedy

Ram Gopal Varma has collaborated with Manoj Bajpayee before, most notably in the iconic role of Bhiku Matre in ‘Satya.’ Their previous collaborations also include successful films like ‘Kaun’ and ‘Shool.’ Now, after several years, the actor-director duo is set to reunite, this time exploring a new genre: horror-comedy. Varma took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the exciting news about their upcoming project, promising a spine-tingling yet humorous experience.

In his announcement on X, Varma revealed the title of the film, ‘Police Station Mein Bhoot,’ featuring Bajpayee. This collaboration marks their first foray into horror-comedy, a genre that neither of them has tackled before. The filmmaker went on to share intriguing details about the film’s concept.

Varma wrote, “After SATYA, KAUN, and SHOOL, I’m excited to announce that @BajpayeeManoj and I are teaming up again for a HORROR COMEDY. While I have explored genres like horror, gangster, romance, political dramas, adventure, and thrillers, horror-comedy is uncharted territory for us. The film is titled POLICE STATION MEIN BHOOT, with the tagline: You Can’t Kill The Dead. Concept: We turn to the police when we’re scared, but where do the police go when they’re scared?”

Varma elaborated further, stating, “STORY IDEA: After a deadly encounter, a POLICE STATION transforms into a HAUNTED STATION, making the officers flee in terror from the GHOSTS of the GANGSTERS. With cutting-edge VFX and spine-chilling effects, POLICE STATION MEIN BHOOT promises to be a FUN-FILLED film that will send shivers down your spine.”

Earlier this year, Varma expressed his desire to return to form after feeling adrift since the success of ‘Satya’ and ‘Rangeela.’ He announced another project titled ‘Syndicate,’ described as a hard-boiled crime saga that delves into human horrors rather than supernatural ones. He emphasized that the film has a futuristic angle, not due to its setting, but because its themes could easily resonate with present-day realities.

Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee is gearing up for his final performance as Sreekanth Tiwari in the last season of ‘The Family Man.’
