Punjab Police Disrupt Narco-Terror Network; Four Arrested Including Father and Son with 4 kg of Heroin
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh and his son Navjot Singh, both from Tarn Taran Road in Amritsar; Aniket, a resident of Chheharta, Amritsar; and Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi, from Sheron village in Tarn Taran.
Additionally, police have seized their three-wheeled black auto and a black motorcycle, which were allegedly used for transporting the narcotics.
DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed that CI Amritsar had received credible information regarding certain individuals in direct contact with drug smugglers based in Pakistan who were involved in the distribution of drugs. A recent consignment was reportedly retrieved from the Attari region for further supply to local dealers.
Acting promptly, CI Amritsar conducted a raid near the Government Hospital in Naraingarh, leading to the arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of 4 kg of heroin.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the operation is orchestrated by an individual based abroad known as Bhullar. It was found that Sukhwinder and Navjot received a 4 kg heroin consignment from an unknown contact in the Rajatal village area of Amritsar, of which they distributed 2 kg to Aniket and Gurpreet Singh for further distribution.
Notably, Sukhwinder’s other son, Harmanjit Singh alias Harry, along with Aniket’s brother Sagar, were recently apprehended in a separate drug-related case by ANTF SAS Nagar in January 2025 and are currently detained in Amritsar Jail.
DGP Gaurav Yadav indicated that the investigation into their connections within this smuggling network is ongoing. Authorities are working to establish both backward and forward linkages, with further arrests and recoveries anticipated in the days ahead.
An FIR has been filed on March 22 at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act, according to an official statement.
