President Murmu to Launch Global Conference on Unani Medicine This Tuesday
The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), a top research body under the Ministry of Ayush in the Government of India, is hosting an esteemed International Conference titled “Innovations in Unani Medicine for Integrative Health Solutions – A Way Forward” from February 11-12, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan.
Emphasizing the progress of Unani medicine and the government’s commitment to integrating Ayush systems into mainstream healthcare, Prataprao Jadhav stated, “I am proud to observe the growing incorporation of Unani medicine within the global healthcare framework. By encouraging innovation and collaboration, we aspire to create comprehensive healthcare solutions that respect our traditional practices while addressing contemporary health challenges. The Government of India is dedicated to advancing Unani medicine, ensuring its meaningful contribution to public welfare and the overall health of the global community.”
Highlighting the government’s focus on enhancing scientific research in Ayush systems, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, remarked, “The establishment of research centers in the Ayush sector, the inclusion of Ayush in public health policies, and the integration of traditional systems into the larger health framework underscore India’s commitment to preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. This international conference will spotlight the latest advancements in Unani Medicine and their relevance in holistic health systems.”
The International Conference serves as a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, aiming to underscore the crucial role of Unani Medicine in promoting global health and well-being. Key objectives include:
– Fostering Innovation: Delving into new frontiers of Unani medicine for integrative healthcare solutions.
– Global Collaboration: Enabling knowledge exchange among national and international experts in traditional and integrative medicine.
– Showcasing Achievements: Featuring the latest research and advancements in Unani medicine by CCRUM.
Notable features of the event include:
– Scientific Sessions: Expert-led keynote addresses and discussions centered on the integration of Unani medicine into contemporary healthcare.
– Exhibition: A lively showcase of innovations in Unani and herbal pharmaceuticals, along with displays from educational institutions, research organizations, and service providers.
– Global Participation: Delegates from countries such as the USA, South Africa, Iran, Malaysia, UAE, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will engage in meaningful discussions.
During this event, several CCRUM publications will be unveiled, including the Souvenir of the International Conference. Additionally, NABL and NABH certificates will be awarded to CCRUM institutions. A short video highlighting the Council’s recent initiatives will also be launched, along with Certificates of Appreciation for the best research papers, notable contributions to Unani medicine, and top-performing institutions.

Two Workers Die After Electric Shock in Telangana
Telangana: Two workers died after suffering an electric shock while carrying an iron stand in Telangana. The incident happened near an Indian Oil petrol bunk in Mancherial district.
The deceased have been identified as Salla Lakshminarayana and Chandnagari Nagaraju from Velganur village.
According to reports, three labourers were carrying a tall iron stand near the petrol bunk. During this time, the iron stand accidentally touched an overhead electric wire.
Electricity passed through the iron stand and caused a severe shock. Lakshminarayana and Nagaraju suffered serious burns and died on the spot.

The third person who was with them escaped without any injuries.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation.

22-Year-Old Woman Killed After Truck Runs Over Her in Jaipur
Jaipur: A 22-year-old woman died after a truck ran over her in Jaipur, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Liga Jimo, a native of Nagaland. She had been living in a rented house in Malviya Nagar for the past two years. She was working at a beauty parlour in the area.
The incident took place on Monday night. Liga Jimo was travelling to Malviya Nagar on a bike taxi.
According to police, the bike lost control near Gopalpura Pulia. As a result, the woman fell onto the road.

At the same time, a truck carrying gas cylinders came from behind and ran over her. She died on the spot due to the impact.
Police shifted the body to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway

Husband Revives Wife After Doctors Declare Her Dead
Mangaluru: A woman who was declared dead by doctors survived after her husband performed CPR for 35 minutes. The inspiring story of Komal Jamwal was shared on the Instagram page of Humans of Bombay and has gone viral.
The incident happened in March 2012 when Komal was 33 years old. She suddenly developed severe leg weakness and collapsed. Doctors at a hospital in Jammu later diagnosed her with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare condition that affects the nerves.
During treatment, she suffered repeated cardiac arrests and doctors declared her dead. However, her husband refused to give up and performed CPR for 35 minutes until her heart started beating again.

She was later treated in Ludhiana and slowly recovered. Now 14 years later, the 47-year-old woman can walk again and says she is grateful to her husband and family for saving her life.
