Preity Zinta Criticizes Congress Party for Disseminating False Information About Her

Published

Actress Preity Zinta, known for her roles in films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Lakshya’, and ‘Veer-Zaara’, has responded strongly to accusations made by the Indian National Congress’ Kerala unit. The party alleged that she handed her social media accounts over to the BJP, resulting in the writing off of 18 crore and a recent bank collapse, leaving depositors struggling to retrieve their funds. In a direct rebuttal, Zinta condemned the political party for spreading “false news.”

She stated, “I manage my social media accounts myself, and it’s shameful that you are spreading FAKE NEWS! No one has written off any loans for me. I’m appalled that a political party or its representatives would indulge in such malicious gossip and sensationalism using my name and images.” She further clarified, “For the record, a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK over a decade ago. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings in the future (sic).”

Earlier, Zinta expressed her views regarding harsher punishments for rape in India, suggesting that the country should follow Italy’s move toward legalizing chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles. In response to a tweet from BRICS News, she remarked, “What a fantastic move! I hope @mygovindia considers something similar. It’s high time we have zero tolerance for such crimes.”

The BRICS organization includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. Prior to these statements, Zinta created a stir on social media with her post encouraging support for one’s own country: “Support the country you live in or live in the country you support. #ThoughtForTheDay.” Although she did not mention any names, many online users interpreted it as a jab at Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh or politician Priyanka Gandhi.
