In an interview with The Times of India, Priya Banerjee passionately supported her husband, addressing the narrative surrounding his fraught relationship with Raj Babbar. “That family was never there. That person (Raj Babbar) was never present in his life,” she stated, decisively quashing any discussions about the Babbar family’s absence at the wedding.

She didn’t hold back when questioned about the Babbar family’s absence. Before Prateik could respond, she interjected, “No, absolutely not. We don’t want to discuss it. It’s really not our place.” However, she hinted at deeper issues, encouraging people to revisit past articles rather than jumping to conclusions. “Let people look back at past reports before making thoughtless comments. If Prateik chooses to remain silent, and if I do too, it’s out of respect and dignity.”
Her most pointed remark came when she discussed Raj Babbar’s longstanding absence from Prateik’s life, not just during the wedding. “That family was never present… So I question why this is being addressed now, after 30 years.”
Prateik has been candid about his challenges, particularly the loss of his mother, Smita Patil, just two weeks after he was born. Priya highlighted this trauma, questioning why outsiders feel justified in commenting on his life without knowing the entire story.
