Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend a special screening of the Hindi film “Chhava” on Wednesday at the Balayogi Auditorium in Parliament. The event will also be graced by various Cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament.

This film, which chronicles the life of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has been widely praised for its depiction of valor and leadership.

The screening, taking place at the Parliament Library building, will feature the entire cast and crew, including actor Vicky Kaushal in the role of Sambhaji Maharaj. The event has stirred significant interest, particularly since PM Modi has previously lauded the film.

At the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi last month, PM Modi emphasized the film’s importance, highlighting its representation of Sambhaji Maharaj’s bravery against the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He pointed out that the film, inspired by Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel, resonates with audiences throughout the country.

“It is Maharashtra and Mumbai that have played a pivotal role in elevating both Marathi and Hindi cinema. Currently, ‘Chhava’ is creating quite a stir across the nation. Its portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj’s courage draws from Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel,” Prime Minister Modi stated on February 21.

Receiving international recognition for its compelling storytelling and historical accuracy, “Chhava” illuminates lesser-known yet significant facets of Maratha history. The film has been celebrated not only for its historical context but also for its captivating narrative and performances, especially Kaushal’s portrayal of the Maratha warrior.

Since its release on February 14, 2025, “Chhava” has garnered acclaim for its historical fidelity and emotional storytelling, and it continues to excel at the box office in its sixth week.
