PM Modi Dips in the Sacred Waters of Triveni Sangam at Mahakumbh, Accompanied by Vedic Chants

Published

on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a resounding message of unity to the world as he took a sacred dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh on Wednesday. Immersed in the Triveni Sangam, he was surrounded by the chanting of Vedic hymns.
Prior to his ritual bath, PM Modi paid homage to Lord Surya, chanted on ‘Rudraksha’ beads (dried seeds utilized in prayer by Hindus and Buddhists), and carried out rituals that honored the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, culminating in the Ganga Puja and Aarti.

Upon arriving in Prayagraj, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed him warmly.

Following sacred traditions, PM Modi touched the holy waters in reverence before making ‘tarpan’ (offerings to divine entities) and prayers to the Sun. Dressed in a black kurta, saffron sash, and a Himachali cap, he offered ‘akshat’ (raw unbroken rice sprinkled with water), ‘naivedya’ (offerings to deities), flowers, fruits, and a red ‘chunari’ (cloth used in worship) at the divine confluence, all amidst the uplifting sound of Vedic hymns.
After his dip, he performed Aarti of the three sacred rivers. A Tirtha Purohit present at the site honored him with a tilak. Following the rituals, PM Modi and CM Adityanath enjoyed a boat ride back to the helipad.
In a social media post after his Sangam bathing, PM Modi shared, “Blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a moment of divine connection, and like the millions who have participated, I was filled with a spirit of devotion. May Maa Ganga bless everyone with peace, wisdom, good health, and harmony.”
As the Mahakumbh attracts devotees from around the world, PM Modi’s dedication reflected the principles of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. His ritual bath was historically significant, coinciding with auspicious celestial events — ‘Gupt Navratri’ and ‘Bhishmashtami.’
‘Gupt Navratri’ is focused on worshiping the Goddess, while ‘Bhishmashtami’ is a time for ancestral offerings and Shraddh (Hindu rituals honoring ancestors). This intersection of faith and tradition further enriched the sanctity of the occasion.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at Prayagraj Airport in the morning and traveled to the DPS helipad by MI-17 helicopter, where Chief Minister Adityanath awaited him. From there, he headed to Arail Ghat, boarding a specially arranged boat to the Triveni Sangam.
Throughout the boat ride, accompanied by CM Adityanath, PM Modi discussed the extensive preparations made for the Mahakumbh and the facilities for devotees while acknowledging the greetings of those at the Sangam and waving to them.
Upon arrival at the Triveni Sangam, PM Modi joined thousands of devotees already there for their ritual baths. Remarkably, despite the presence of VVIPs, public participation continued uninterrupted, allowing pilgrims to share the sacred experience alongside the Prime Minister.
The event was marked by organized coordination that avoided disruption, creating a powerful moment where PM Modi and countless pilgrims engaged in this holy experience. The riverbanks resounded with chants of ‘Har Har Gange’ and ‘Modi-Modi,’ showcasing the enthusiasm of the attendees.
Since the Mahakumbh began on January 13, an astounding 39 crore devotees have participated in the sacred dip at the Sangam within a span of 24 days, demonstrating the effective management of the event.
PM Modi’s visit to Prayagraj occurred a month after his prior trip on December 13, during which he inaugurated 167 projects worth Rs 5,500 crore. These initiatives included major upgrades to railway stations, ROB flyovers, road enhancements, and beautification efforts.
He also launched permanent ghats, riverfront development, sewerage and water supply projects, and power supply initiatives. Among the key religious and cultural projects were the Akshayavat Corridor, Saraswati Koop Corridor, Bade Hanuman Mandir Corridor, Bhardwaj Rishi Ashram Corridor, and Shringverpur Dham Corridor.
These undertakings aimed to enhance the Mahakumbh experience for devotees and spotlighted a new era of development for Prayagraj.
He also shared images of his “Sangam Snan” and Ganga Aarti.
