‘Panchayat’ Creators Collaborate with Ministry of Panchayati Raj to Develop Compelling, Message-Oriented Rural Content
The first sketch, titled ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’, recently debuted on TVF’s official YouTube channel. Set within the ‘Panchayat’ universe, the video emphasizes the crucial role of women’s voices in governance and highlights the effectiveness of grievance redressal mechanisms at the grassroots level. The sketch features renowned actors Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, and Faisal Malik.
Neena Gupta remarked, “I always enjoy being involved in stories that have a purpose. ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’ is more than just a sketch; it reflects the real-life challenges faced by women in rural India. I can’t wait for audiences to appreciate how beautifully this message has been integrated into TVF’s unique storytelling.”
The second sketch, ‘The Drive and the Dispute’, delves into environmental sustainability and the role of technology in governance. It centers around a tree plantation initiative in Phulera, where Panchayat members Vikas and Prahlad strive to promote afforestation. However, they face opposition from their rival, Banrakas, who accuses them of corruption.
A journalist investigating the missing saplings utilizes a drone from the Svamitva land survey scheme to uncover the truth, revealing Banrakas as the true culprit. The comedic resolution emphasizes the need for accountability, with Banrakas compelled to plant 200 new trees. Additionally, the sketch highlights the practical application of the Meri Panchayat app for transparent data management and the Panchayat Development Index (PDI) for organized governance.
Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, commented, “The staggering viewership of our first special episode, ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’, which amassed over 1.2 million views within hours of its release on March 4, 2025—even amidst the India-Australia ICC Champions Trophy semi-final—illustrates the vast potential of infotainment for meaningful public engagement. With nearly 7.6 million views in just ten days, this film validates our communication strategy.”
Currently, ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’ boasts 7.6 million views, while ‘The Drive and the Dispute’ has reached 5.5 million views, underscoring the impact and continued engagement of these narratives.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay retained the Perambur constituency after winning from two seats in the Assembly election and resigned from the Tiruchchi East seat.
Reports now suggest that popular actor, director, and choreographer Raghava Lawrence may contest the upcoming by-election from Tiruchchi East on behalf of Vijay’s TVK party. The news has been widely discussed on social media.
Raghava Lawrence is known for his charitable work and support for differently-abled people, orphaned children, and senior citizens. His strong public image is seen as an advantage if he enters the race.
Earlier, rumours claimed that actress Trisha Krishnan would contest from the constituency, but those reports were later dismissed.

The by-election for Tiruchchi East has not yet been announced, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the party’s candidate. However, reports indicate that Vijay may choose a close associate to contest from the seat.
Film : Kannada star actor Duniya Vijay is set to appear in the upcoming Telugu film Slum Dog. The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and is directed by Puri Jagannadh.
The film has already created a positive buzz in the Telugu film industry. Reports suggest that Duniya Vijay will be seen in a unique and important role.
The makers have announced that the first teaser of Slum Dog will be released on June 8. They also shared a new poster featuring Vijay Sethupathi holding a blood-stained weapon.
