The creators of the acclaimed streaming series ‘Panchayat’ have partnered with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to illustrate rural development through engaging stories. This collaboration seeks to spotlight significant rural initiatives, focusing on themes like Women Empowerment, Own Source Revenue, and Technology-Driven Growth.

The first sketch, titled ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’, recently debuted on TVF’s official YouTube channel. Set within the ‘Panchayat’ universe, the video emphasizes the crucial role of women’s voices in governance and highlights the effectiveness of grievance redressal mechanisms at the grassroots level. The sketch features renowned actors Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, and Faisal Malik.

Neena Gupta remarked, “I always enjoy being involved in stories that have a purpose. ‘Asli Pradhan Kaun?’ is more than just a sketch; it reflects the real-life challenges faced by women in rural India. I can’t wait for audiences to appreciate how beautifully this message has been integrated into TVF’s unique storytelling.”

The second sketch, ‘The Drive and the Dispute’, delves into environmental sustainability and the role of technology in governance. It centers around a tree plantation initiative in Phulera, where Panchayat members Vikas and Prahlad strive to promote afforestation. However, they face opposition from their rival, Banrakas, who accuses them of corruption.

A journalist investigating the missing saplings utilizes a drone from the Svamitva land survey scheme to uncover the truth, revealing Banrakas as the true culprit. The comedic resolution emphasizes the need for accountability, with Banrakas compelled to plant 200 new trees. Additionally, the sketch highlights the practical application of the Meri Panchayat app for transparent data management and the Panchayat Development Index (PDI) for organized governance.
