Pahalgam Attack: Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees on PM Package Directed to Work Remotely

Published

on

In response to the recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, authorities have mandated that government employees working under the Prime Minister’s rehabilitation package in Kashmir will work from home until April 27. Initially ordered by the district education officer in Baramulla, this directive has since been extended to officials across other districts in the Valley, instructing PM package employees to refrain from attending their usual workplaces.

The Prime Minister’s rehabilitation package was established by the previous UPA government to assist displaced Kashmiri Pandits, who were compelled to leave their homes due to terrorist threats in the 1990s.

This decision for remote work follows a violent incident on April 22, where terrorists claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and a local resident, at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam. A comprehensive operation has been launched to locate and apprehend the terrorists, utilizing advanced technology such as drones, helicopters, surveillance equipment, and sniffer dogs.

India has responded to the terrorism allegedly backed by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir by suspending the Indus Water Treaty, originally signed in 1960 between the two nations. Additionally, the Attari border crossing has been closed, and India’s High Commission staff in Pakistan has been reduced to 30%. All Pakistani nationals currently in India have been instructed to leave within 48 hours, and military attaches at the Pakistani High Commission have been declared persona non grata.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack on Wednesday, expressing his condolences and vowing that the sacrifices of innocent lives would not go unpunished. Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed the security forces to ensure that those responsible for the Pahalgam massacre are brought to justice, emphasizing that no effort should be spared in their pursuit.
