Over 400 million devotees have made a pilgrimage to the holy confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati at Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Mahakumbh. The influx of devotees shows no signs of abating, as sants, Kalpvasis, and householders arrive in droves, driven by profound faith and devotion.

As of Friday morning, the number of pilgrims who have bathed in the sacred waters has exceeded 400 million. By 10 AM on February 7 alone, an additional 4.28 million had taken part, raising the total even further. With 19 days to go until the grand conclusion of the event, Mela officials anticipate that the number of bathers may surpass 500 million.

Despite the three Amrit Snans—namely Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami—held in Prayagraj, the fervor of devotees remains strong. Pilgrims from across India and beyond flock daily to Prayagraj, eager to attain spiritual merit through the sacred bathing. Following the last Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami, millions have continued to visit Triveni Sangam.

An examination of the attendance figures indicates that Mauni Amavasya recorded the largest turnout, with 80 million devotees participating in the holy dip. On Makar Sankranti, 35 million joined the Amrit Snan, while over 20 million took the sacred dip on February 1 and January 30. Paush Purnima attracted 17 million bathers, and Basant Panchami saw 25.7 million devotees immerse themselves in the holy waters.

Numerous political leaders, celebrities, and spiritual figures have partaken in the sacred rituals, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others. Notable political figures such as UP Governor Anandiben Patel and various state chief ministers also graced the event, including Bhutan’s King and a Nepali Member of Parliament.

Other dignitaries who took part in the sacred bath include Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy and Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary. Notably, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on February 10 to partake in the rituals at Triveni Sangam.
