Mikey Madison won the Best Actress award for her role in Sean Baker’s ‘Anora’, a thought-provoking film that explores the life of a sex worker whose existence is dramatically transformed after marrying the son of a Russian oligarch.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Madison expressed her disbelief at winning. “Growing up in Los Angeles, I always felt Hollywood was beyond my reach. Standing here tonight is a dream realized.” She dedicated her award to the sex worker community, affirming her commitment to supporting and amplifying their voices. “Along this journey, I’ve had the honor of meeting extraordinary women from this community. I will continue to be their ally.”

Madison emerged victorious against strong competitors such as Fernanda Torres (‘I’m Still Here’), Cynthia Erivo (‘Wicked’), Karla Sofia Gascon (‘Emilia Perez’), and Demi Moore (‘The Substance’).

Adrien Brody achieved another career milestone by winning his second Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in Brady Corbet’s ‘The Brutalist’. Brody portrayed an architect grappling with the complexities of post-war America, earning widespread praise for his subtle and nuanced acting.

One of the evening’s standout moments was Brody’s acceptance speech, during which he gracefully requested the orchestra to stop playing as they attempted to cut him off. “I’ve been in this position before. Please turn off the music,” he said. He reflected on the unpredictable journey of an acting career, noting, “This profession has its fragility. It may appear glamorous, yet success can evaporate in an instant. Over the years, I’ve learned to cherish every moment.”

With this award, Brody joins an elite circle of actors who have received the Best Actor honor twice, including icons like Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, and Spencer Tracy. His first Oscar was won in 2003 for ‘The Pianist’, making him one of the youngest recipients in the category’s history.
