Nitish’s Son Urges NDA to Declare ‘Laadla’ as CM Candidate, Calling for More Than Just a Title
In a noticeable shift from his usual reluctance to engage with the media, Nishant exhibited greater confidence and a readiness to address questions, fueling speculation about his potential foray into active politics.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise for Nitish Kumar, whom he referred to as his “Laadla Chief Minister” during a rally in Bhagalpur, Nishant remarked that such gestures are customary among alliance partners. He reiterated the need for the NDA to officially name Nitish Kumar as their CM candidate, adding, “I urge everyone to re-elect my father as Chief Minister. Even though he won only 43 seats last election, he persisted in his efforts to develop the state. Having worked diligently for 19 years, he deserves a triumphant return to power.”
Nishant also called on party members to connect with voters, enlightening them on the party’s policies and his father’s accomplishments over the years.
Recently, political discussions have swirled around Nishant Kumar’s potential entry into politics. Initially, JDU spokespeople dismissed such speculation, but recently a large banner was put up by party workers outside the JDU office in Patna, proclaiming “Bihar kare pukaar, aaiye Nishant Kumar.” This has been echoed by other party leaders and supporters enthusiastic about his involvement, garnering backing from both JDU allies and opposition members.
Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, backed the call for Nishant to join the JDU, emphasizing the need to preserve the party’s integrity from external influences, referencing its founding by the late socialist leader Sharad Yadav. Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (S) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi also expressed support, asserting that Nishant’s political lineage should not hinder his chances in politics. Additionally, Union Minister and LJP (R) leader Chirag Paswan welcomed the prospect of Nishant’s entry, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with Nishant himself.
Although Nishant has kept a low public profile away from active politics, his potential involvement could significantly alter the internal dynamics of the JDU and its relations with NDA partners. Support from leaders like Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi indicates that there may be little opposition within the NDA regarding his entry.
