Nitish Kumar Sworn In as Chief Minister for a Record 10th Time

Patna: supremo Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time during a grand ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday. With this, he further extends his tenure as the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar, completing nearly 20 years in office.

 

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Kumar. The JD(U) leader took the oath on the Constitution of India, reaffirming his commitment to democratic values.

The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of several top national leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, and other senior leaders of the NDA attended the event. Chief ministers from various NDA-ruled states were also present, underscoring the significance of the political development in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar, who has helmed the state through multiple political shifts and alliances, now enters yet another term, marking a milestone in Bihar’s political history.

Two Sisters Die after Falling Ill in Bidar

Bidar: Two sisters from Bidar district died under suspicious circumstances after falling ill following the consumption of mangoes. The incident was reported from Shembelli village in Aurad taluk.

 

The deceased were identified as 17-year-old Bhavani Maitre and 14-year-old Sandhyarani Maitre. On June 9, family members developed health problems after eating mangoes at home.

Their mother Indumati and five daughters suffered from vomiting and diarrhea. They were rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Bhavani and Sandhyarani died. Another sister, 19-year-old Vijayashree, remains in critical condition. Their mother and one more sister have recovered.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is received. Family members have requested government assistance and a detailed probe into the incident.

Mangaluru: Private Bus Fare Hiked From June 13

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Bus Owners’ Association has announced an increase in private bus fares from June 13. The revised fares will come into effect on Saturday.

The association has decided to increase fares for both city and rural private buses. Passengers will have to pay an additional Rs.1 to Rs.2 per ticket.

According to an official statement released on Thursday, bus tickets priced between Rs.12 and Rs.20 will see an increase of Rs.1. Tickets costing more than Rs.20 will be increased by Rs.2.

Association President Aziz Parthippadi and General Secretary Ramachandra Pailar said that bus operators had requested a cess on fares to manage the rising cost of diesel and other expenses.

They clarified that the revised fares will apply to buses operating in both urban and rural areas of Dakshina Kannada district.

The association also stated that despite the fare hike, students will continue to receive the existing 60 percent concession on bus fares

New Delhi: Renowned Indian shooter and Dronacharya Award-winning coach Jaspal Rana passed away at the age of 49, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Indian sports.

Rana was one of India’s most successful pistol shooters and played a major role in popularizing shooting in the country during the 1990s. He won several gold medals at the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Championships.

After retiring from competitive shooting, he became a respected coach and mentored many young talents, including Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker. His guidance helped shape several world-class shooters for India.
