Neil Nitin Mukesh Opens Up About His Detention at NYC Airport Due to THIS Reason

Published

on

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh recently recounted a memorable experience at New York Airport, where he was detained by authorities due to doubts about his nationality. During his trip to the U.S., officials did not believe his Indian passport and refused to let him explain his identity.

This incident took place while Neil was in the U.S. filming ‘New York’ alongside John Abraham and Katrina Kaif, a movie that explores the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, including themes of racial profiling. Reflecting on the event, Neil shared, “I was detained at the airport. They wouldn’t accept my Indian passport or my nationality. They didn’t even allow me a chance to speak.”

Neil faced a frustrating ordeal, being held for four hours without an opportunity to clarify the situation. He recalled, “After four hours, they asked me, ‘What do you have to say?’ I simply replied, ‘Just Google me.’” This unexpected response left the authorities bewildered, and their demeanor changed as they became more curious rather than accusatory. They began to inquire about his family, asking about his grandfather, father, and the family’s legacy.

For those unfamiliar, Neil hails from one of the most distinguished families in Indian cinema. He is the grandson of the iconic playback singer Mukesh and the son of celebrated singer Nitin Mukesh. Although he comes from a musical background, Neil has chosen to pursue a career in acting.

On the professional front, Neil’s latest venture is the satirical action comedy ‘Hisaab Barabar,’ where he portrays the main antagonist. Directed by Ashwini Dhir, the film also stars R. Madhavan, Kirti Kulhari, Rashami Desai, and Faisal Rashid. The plot centers on a railway ticket checker who uncovers irregularities in minor banking transactions, leading to a shocking revelation about systemic corruption. ‘Hisaab Barabar’ is currently available for streaming on ZEE5.
