Nana in Negotiations to Join Ji Chang Wook and Son Ye Jin for ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ Remake

Actress Nana, known for her role in ‘Mask Girl,’ is in discussions alongside K-drama icons Ji Chang Wook and Son Ye Jin to take the lead in the remake of ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ titled ‘Scandal.’ This upcoming historical drama for Netflix will draw inspiration from the classic French novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ and will also serve as an adaptation of the 2003 South Korean film ‘Untold Scandal,’ which was itself a historical reinterpretation of the original narrative.

On February 27, sources within the industry revealed that Nana is set to star in Netflix’s new series ‘Scandal.’ In response to these reports, her agency, Sublime Artist Agency, confirmed, “She has received an offer for the drama and is currently considering it.”

Previously, K-media outlets reported that Ji Chang Wook from ‘Healer’ and Son Ye Jin from ‘Something in the Rain’ are also in talks to lead this exciting historical project. Following the news, their respective agencies issued confirmations, suggesting that if all the actors commit to the project, the casting could create considerable excitement.

The drama will adapt the acclaimed 2003 South Korean film ‘Untold Scandal,’ which featured stars like Bae Yong Joon, Jeon Do Yeon, and Lee Mi Sook. Set during the Joseon Dynasty, this film was itself a remake of the famous French novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ which has seen multiple adaptations, including the successful 1988 film starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman, Glenn Close, and John Malkovich. With ‘Scandal,’ Netflix aims to add yet another interpretation to this classic tale, potentially under the direction of Jung Ji Woo.

For the upcoming remake, Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook are reportedly in line to portray Lady Cho and Jo Won, respectively. Additionally, reports indicate that Han Sun Hwa will join the cast in a new role specifically created for this adaptation, though her agency has not yet commented on this news. Nana has been approached to play Madam Suk, a character who has remained celibate for nine years and was originally portrayed by Jeon Do Yeon in the film.

Filming for this intriguing project is expected to commence in March or April.
