Myth, Horror, and Kajol: ‘Maa’ Set to Deliver an Exciting Showdown in 2025

Kajol is set to immerse audiences in a captivating mythological horror film titled ‘Maa’, scheduled for release on June 27, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a haunting poster of the actress cradling a child, appearing to shield her from a foreboding presence.

In her social media post sharing the poster, Kajol wrote, “Hell is here… so is the Goddess! The battle commences on June 27th, 2025, in theaters near you.”

The film features Kajol in a commanding lead role, supported by talented actors Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, Gopal Singh, Surjyasikha Das, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Roopkatha Chakraborty, and Kherin Sharma. ‘Maa’ intertwines mythological themes with horror, promising a gripping confrontation between good and evil. Directed by Vishal Furia and penned by Saiwyn Quadras, the film is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with co-production by Kumar Mangat Pathak.

Backed by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, the film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.

In addition to ‘Maa’, Kajol has a busy lineup ahead. She will star in Kayoze Irani’s ‘Sarzameen’, featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Rajesh Sharma. Another project in the pipeline is ‘Maharagni – Queen of Queens’, directed by Charan Tej Uppalapati, boasting a stellar cast that includes Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha Menon, and Jisshu Sengupta.

Beyond her film work, Kajol commemorated Women’s Day 2025 with a poignant Instagram post, reflecting on her journey through a conversation with her younger self. Sharing a video montage, she noted, “Met my younger self for coffee today… She ordered a latte, I ordered an americano… And she had a book in her hand and one in her bag, I had a Kindle… She was loud and strong, I was loud and gentler, she wore jeans and a t-shirt and was in awe of my jeans… She was oblivious to the admiration around her, while I smiled at the joy her laughter brought to others… She asked how I became as beautiful as my mother and grandmother. I replied—it took me this long to recognize my own worth…”
