A team from the Mumbai Police has visited the residence of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia amidst growing controversy over his remarks made on the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent.” This visit follows a formal complaint lodged against Allahbadia and others involved in the show, igniting significant public outrage and calls for legal action as well as a potential ban on the program.

In the wake of the ‘India’s Got Latent’ debacle, Ashish Chanchlani’s lawyer, Apurva, also appeared at the Khar Police Station in Mumbai, where the show is filmed. This visit is within the police station’s jurisdiction.

On Monday, a lawyer filed a formal complaint against Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina (the show’s host), and the event organizers of ‘India’s Got Latent.’ According to sources within the Mumbai Police, the complaint stems from the vulgar language employed during the show.

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia, known for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, made offensive comments during a recent episode of ‘India’s Got Latent.’ His remarks prompted widespread backlash, including a strong condemnation from the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA).
In an official statement, AICWA labeled Allahbadia’s comments as “abhorrent” and “disrespectful” to societal and family values, asserting, “The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) vehemently condemns the reprehensible and offensive remarks made on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. Such disgraceful content is utterly unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the moral fabric of our society.”
The association is demanding a complete ban of the show and legal repercussions for those involved, stating, “We urge all actors, filmmakers, directors, and technicians to immediately sever ties with individuals connected to this show, including host Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia.”
In light of the public outcry, Allahbadia has since issued an apology. In a video shared on his X account, he recognized that his comments were not only inappropriate but also devoid of humor. He acknowledged that comedy is not his strong suit and expressed regret over his misjudgment.

“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte; I am just here to say sorry,” Allahbadia admitted. He further addressed the potential impact of his comments on young audiences, promising to approach his platform more responsibly in the future. “Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect,” he emphasized.
He also called for the producers of ‘India’s Got Latent’ to remove the “insensitive sections” from the episode. “I have asked the makers of the video to eliminate the insensitive parts. In closing, I just want to say I’m sorry, and I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he concluded.
Alongside AICWA’s condemnation, a formal complaint has been submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, alleging that the show featured abusive language and obscene remarks about women, purportedly to attract views and financial gain through online broadcasts. The complainants are requesting strict action against those implicated in the show, particularly regarding the remarks made by Allahbadia and Raina.
