Bengaluru: The fourth annual Tulu Nadu Aati celebrations were held in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The event was organised by Jai Tulunad Bengaluru at the Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty Auditorium in Bilekahalli.

The programme showcased the rich culture and traditions of coastal Karnataka.

The celebrations began with a grand procession featuring Chende, traditional music and Kunitha Bhajane.

BJP leader and Bommanahalli Assembly constituency leader M. Sathish Reddy inaugurated the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Sathish Reddy said he was happy to be part of a festival celebrated with devotion and faith.

He stressed the need to preserve culture and patriotic values. He also urged people to work together and respect their language.

Former Minister and Karkala MLA B. Sunil Kumar appreciated the efforts of Jai Tulunad Bengaluru.

He said the organisation was bringing people together through their love and attachment to the Tulu language.

Bhavani Shankar Shetty, Director of Networth Systems, Bengaluru, entrepreneur Ganesh Rao, Ramakant Shetty, and film personalities Ashwithi and Adwithi Shetty were among those present.

They extended their best wishes to the organisers. Several achievers from the community were honoured during the programme.

A video showcasing the activities of the organisation was also screened. Members of the Sri Rama Bhajana Mandali, Hosarodu, presented a devotional bhajana programme.

A Yakshagana performance was another major attraction of the event.

Traditional Chende performances, Aati Kalenja, Kunitha Bhajane and various cultural competitions were also organised.

Bengaluru: A head constable was allegedly assaulted by a group of people after he was accused of behaving inappropriately with a woman on a city bus near Gangammana Gudi Circle in Bengaluru.

The injured policeman has been identified as Manjunath, a head constable attached to the Sanjay Nagar Police Station.

According to reports, Manjunath had boarded a bus while travelling to Jalahalli. During the journey, he was accused of behaving inappropriately with a woman passenger.

The argument between the two soon turned into a heated quarrel inside the bus. The woman reportedly called her relatives and informed them about the incident.

When the bus reached Gangammana Gudi Circle, a group of young men stopped the bus. The group allegedly dragged the head constable out of the bus and assaulted him.

Manjunath reportedly told them that he was a police officer, but the attackers allegedly ignored him. His clothes were also torn during the assault.

He suffered injuries to his face and other parts of his body. He was later admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, both the woman and the head constable filed separate complaints against each other.

Police have registered both a complaint and a counter-complaint. Further investigation is underway.

Bengaluru: A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a young woman who was waiting for a cab on the roadside at night in Bengaluru.

The accused has been identified as Vijay Raghav, aged 42. According to police, the man arrived on a scooter and approached the woman.

He allegedly asked her an obscene question, saying, “What is your rate?” The woman remained calm and started recording the incident on her mobile phone.

After noticing that he was being filmed, the accused fled from the spot. The woman later shared the video on Instagram.

She tagged the Bengaluru City Police and requested immediate action against the accused. The video soon went viral on social media.

Based on the complaint and the video, the police registered a case. Police traced the accused and arrested him.

He is currently being questioned as part of the investigation. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
