A twin-seater Mirage-2000 fighter jet belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on Thursday. Fortunately, both pilots managed to eject safely using their parachutes prior to the crash. However, one of the pilots suffered minor injuries upon landing.A video, likely taken by a local resident who came to assist the pilots, features the injured pilot, identified as Jadhav, communicating with a colleague named Joshi at his base to report the incident.

In the footage, Jadhav, speaking in a mix of Hindi and English, informs Joshi about the crash: “Joshi, this is Jadhav speaking. My aircraft crashed. I ejected and I’m located somewhere south of the river. Bhola Sir was with me….I’ll share my coordinates shortly. My location is 2542. The aircraft is on fire … Bhola Sir is about a kilometer away from me. I am likely west of the aircraft, while Bhola Sir is east of it.”

According to Additional SP Sanjeev Mule, the fighter jet had taken off from Gwalior Air Force Base. The IAF released a statement noting that the crash occurred during a routine training flight due to a system malfunction. They have initiated a court of inquiry to investigate the cause of the incident, which took place near Sunari Chowki in the Karera area of Shivpuri district.
