Millie Bobby Brown Speaks Out Against Media Bullying and Body-Shaming

Published

on

Millie Bobby Brown, widely recognized for her role in ‘Stranger Things,’ has voiced her concerns regarding the media’s relentless critique of her appearance. The 20-year-old actress took to Instagram to express her frustrations about articles that analyze her evolving looks and cast judgment on her physical changes.

In a poignant message, Brown highlighted that the media’s fixation on her appearance reflects a broader issue concerning the treatment of young women in the public eye.

Brown, who began her acting career at just 10 years old, rose to fame portraying Eleven in ‘Stranger Things.’ As she has matured in the spotlight, she noted the pressure on her to remain unchanged, as if frozen in time — a demand that is unreasonable given the natural course of life.

“I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me,” she wrote. “Instead, they expect me to stay the same… and as I change, I become a target.”

In her post, Brown courageously named specific articles that fueled the negative discourse, including headlines like, “Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown aging so badly?” and “What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?”

“We often promote the idea of supporting and uplifting young women, yet when the opportunity arises, it seems simpler to vilify them for clicks,” she pointed out.

She made it clear that such commentary is damaging not only to her but sets a worrying precedent for all young women facing similar scrutiny. “It’s disturbing that adult writers dedicate their time to dissecting my face, my body, and my choices,” she stated.

Brown encouraged reflection on why the immediate reaction is often to criticize rather than offer a kind word. “Why is the instinct to say something hurtful instead of something positive?”

She firmly asserted that she will not apologize for her growth or conform to unrealistic expectations. “I refuse to diminish myself to meet unrealistic standards set by those unable to accept that a girl can become a woman.”

“We live in a society where it’s easier to criticize than to compliment,” she concluded. “Let’s strive to do better, not only for me but for every young girl who deserves to mature without the fear of being harshly judged simply for being herself.”

Blue Line Metro Opening Likely to Be Delayed to 2027

Published

on

Mangluru: The much-awaited Namma Metro Blue Line project is likely to face another delay.

The Blue Line will connect Silk Board with KR Puram and link the busy Outer Ring Road (ORR) with the city’s major IT corridors.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had earlier planned to start commercial operations by the end of 2026.

However, the opening may now be pushed to early or mid-2027. Several civil and system works are still pending.

The Byappanahalli depot work is one of the major concerns. The depot is important for the operation and maintenance of metro trains.

The work to connect the Blue Line with the depot is yet to be completed.

Construction of metro viaducts is also pending at Marathahalli and the Central Silk Board junctions.

The project has also faced technical challenges at Iblur. These include the presence of a high-pressure GAIL gas pipeline and a Cauvery water supply pipeline.

Land acquisition issues have also affected the construction of the station.

Work at Silk Board has also been delayed. BMRCL received permission for pillar construction from traffic police and civic agencies only after some delay.

BMRCL is trying to begin trial runs between KR Puram and HSR Layout by October 2026.

However, officials have indicated that commercial operations on the Blue Line will not be possible in 2026.

The delay has raised concerns about traffic congestion on the ORR.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is planning to begin white-topping work on the ORR from October 2026. The project is estimated to cost around Rs.450 crore.

If the road work begins before the Blue Line becomes operational, traffic problems could increase on the busy IT corridor.

Around 8 to 10 lakh employees and other commuters use this corridor every day.

In view of the expected traffic disruption, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has asked officials to discuss the possibility of allowing companies to provide up to 50 per cent work-from-home facilities for their employees.
