Massive Influx of Pilgrims at Mahakumbh During Magh Purnima: CM Personally Overseeing Traffic Management

Helicopters showered devotees with 25 quintals of flowers. In response to a significant traffic jam, the traffic plan has been revised, leading to a complete vehicle entry ban in the city, which has been designated a ‘No Vehicle’ zone.
Devotees now face a walk of 8 to 10 kilometers to reach the Sangam ghats. While the administration is providing limited shuttle buses from the parking areas, they are far outnumbered by the massive crowd.
Authorities have stationed Paramilitary personnel at the confluence to maintain order, and stopping is prohibited to prevent further congestion. For the first time, a large-scale crowd management effort has been implemented, involving the District Magistrate along with 20 IAS and 85 PCS officers from 15 districts.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been overseeing the Mahakumbh operations from the war room at his residence in Lucknow since 4 AM. He was joined by DG Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, and several senior officials. CM Adityanath has extended his warm wishes to all devotees and residents of the state on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima.

NIA Detains Two ISIS Sleepers Tied to 2023 Pune Terror Plot

The suspects, Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh, also known as Diaperwala, and Talha Khan, were captured at Terminal 2 of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by the Bureau of Immigration. They had been evading authorities in Jakarta, Indonesia, before being taken into custody upon their return to India.
The NIA reported that the pair had been on the run for over two years and were wanted in connection with Case RC-05/2023/NIA/MUM. Non-bailable warrants were issued against them by the NIA Special Court in Mumbai, and a reward of Rs 3 lakh was announced for information leading to their capture.
This case forms part of a broader conspiracy involving ten individuals, including the two arrested, aimed at executing terrorist activities and waging war against the Government of India. The NIA stated, “They conspired to carry out terrorist acts intended to disrupt peace and communal harmony in India and advance the ISIS agenda to establish Islamic rule through violence.”
Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh had rented an apartment in Kondhwa, Pune, serving as a base for assembling IEDs. Between 2022 and 2023, the two not only manufactured IEDs but also conducted bomb-making training workshops and executed a controlled explosion to test one of their devices.
The NIA has been diligently working to dismantle ISIS-associated networks in India and has previously filed charges against all ten suspects under various laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosive Substances Act, the Arms Act, and the Indian Penal Code.
Alongside Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh and Talha Khan, the eight other individuals currently in judicial custody are Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Abdul Kadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nachan, Akif Nachan, and Shahnawaz Alam. The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
